By the way, funny story. I told my spouse that I want to buy myself the Max headphones as a birthday present. They laughed and said, “Five-hundred-euro headphones? What do you even need those for?” I said that I enjoy listening to music and watching movies, so it would be a nice way to treat myself. Then they said something that really stopped me: “Do they also have a battery that dies after a few years? Can you even replace it?” And I was like… uh, right. That’s when I realized that these €500 headphones would basically have to be replaced every three years.

I have the original AirPods Max, and love them, especially on an airplane.
But.. the fact they cannot fold annoys me soooo much! Always needing a huge case to be able carry them safely with me. Ugh.
Please make them foldable, add a nice "compact" case to carry them, and a cable for wired Hi-Res audio.
Thank you.

They really should, as I've had the Ultras and they are so light and so comfortable.
It's a completely different (and far better) on head experience.

The only I still prefer about the APMs is the headband -- although the durability of that.
Mine had really stretched out (again, due to the weight).
I'd like to add one qualification to my Bose QC Ultra recommendation—there's too much bass! I know that sounds like a geriatric opinion, but unless you want to lose your hearing, I suggest toggling the software equalizer to the Bass Reducer setting!

Just give me one thing. On/off button! My Max is with me all day, on my head, around my neck, in my bag. But I never take that weird case with me. So just give me some way to turn them off.

Just get two small magnets - the on/off "switch" is activated by contact with the magnets in the case. Use the case to work out where the magnets should be placed, then just put some small magnets on those spots when you want to switch off. problem solved.

Luckily the Ultras have reasonably good EQ ability in the Bose App, yes.

Another knock against ALL AirPods (lack of EQ on iOS)

I can't even believe that. Another case of Apple over-simplifying their products. I could have sworn iTunes used to have an equalizer. So I'm surprised that the AirPods don't.

Music ( i.e. rebranded iTunes) still has an equaliser.

On Mac: Menu bar -> Window -> Equalizer

On iOS -> Settings -> apps -> music - EQ

How do people feel about the styling of the current ones? I've never been a big fan personally, they remind me of old bars of soap, but curious how well liked they are in general.
They're alright, but my big qualm that I had with them is that unlike most other headphones like these, you can't fold them up which I think was one of their biggest downfalls when packing them in something to travel

It does -- and IIRC my iPod Nano that I use for the gym still (with Airpods 2) has EQ options.

I wish Apple would just license their H2 chip to Sony or Bose and exit the audio phones business all together. They don't care enough about their products to work on them.
To what end? That chip isn’t better than what those companies have, it’s just a bunch of proprietary stuff that doesn’t work with competitor products. So y and Bose have better tech and always had.

These updates would make me buy it.

the thing that makes me the saddest about AirPods Max is that they are a genuinely fantastic product, and Apple could easily have a best-in-class product
They are knowhere near fantastic, Lol…the newest Bose Quite comfort gen 2’s are far better!

hey, to each their own—I’m speaking from personal experience, based on my own idea of what makes a product fantastic, & a product is never gonna have 100% customer satisfaction. glad the new Boses are treatin you well !

Let me help with the limbo.

I want the next AirPods Max, and I just waiting for it.

There you go.

I rarely use mine because they make my ears so freaking hot and sweaty. Nasty, imo. Bad design.

That and they are so heavy they fall off when I lean forward or bend over.

Just make them lighter and it's done. Mine still sound amazing, and with H2 they might have even better ANC but even the current ANC is state of the art.

Mine actually died on me before the warranty expired so Apple replaced them with new ones 3 years ago. But I suppose they would have fixed the "randomly dying" issue by now. Must be a manufacturing defect.
