I’ll be the first to admit it sounds crazy, but yet another reason to stay on iOS 15.7/Monterey forever. Apple can’t update my firmware that way nor introduce device slowdowns / reduce functionality along the way.
Thankfully it usually takes years for third party apps to no longer support earlier OS releases.
It shouldn’t have to be this way..

If there is actual evidence of this, i.e. comparative numbers, sign me up for the class action lawsuit. No one should be subject to a company intentionally making a product worse because they plan on selling a new version.

if they get called out by scientific measurements and the them following media attention, they are more likely to change it back.
There are people that hoped that would happen with the Airpod Pro’s especially as there’s still folks showing that it’s poorer. Any measurements that show
it's a relatively minor difference
are not likely to have Apple looking into them. To me, as the headphones are, ostensibly, for listening to music, I’ve always assumed that any changes were related to achieving a more accurate music response in the band affected by the adjustment.

EDIT: And a post someone else pointed to says pretty much the same.
Worse Noise Canceling, Improved Frequency Response and Bass Accuracy
If better sounding music, better bass accuracy, is the offset of worse noise canceling, I can’t say that I’d bemoan it. And, in reality, I hasn’t bemoaned it. :)

I don't understand why they keep doing this. Is there some good reason I'm missing?

I believe it is to market the newer pair that is coming out as having superior noise reduction than the older pair.

There will be no evidence of it. You can't win a lawsuit over a conspiracy theory which is exactly what this is.

This is one of the reasons I refrain from updating my devices unless there's a possible security breach of some sorts. I don't think I've ever updated the firmware on any of my non-computer/non-iphone devices.

I def noticed it is worse. I have pretty sensitive hearing and unused to be able to block out evrything in the house with my ap max. Now I can hear distracting noises. The whole reason I bought these was for the next level anc. I don’t even use them the last month or so and now I know why. 🥲

They did the same with the AirPods Pro 1 , after update after update, now the noise cancellation no longer exists, this requires a class action lawsuit. This is not the first time it has happened with apple :apple:. How angry is this !!! hopefully this can be solved

No lawyer would take this case, I know we have make believe lawyers here but even they would laugh at this one. It is a conspiracy theory, one of many here.
It's not a conspiracy theory. An independent third party already proved that Apple did it with the original AirPods Pro. Proven with objective measurements.

RTINGS published its findings today and does confirm that the 2C54 firmware objectively worsens the AirPods Pro active noise canceling feature

Thanks bud, but I am calling the replies in this thread a conspiracy theory. You got proof the AirPods Max ANC issue was a deliberate move by Apple and not just a bug?
