As much as people hated on them at first, the stem on the AirPods is what makes them undeniably AirPods. You can tell from someone walking down the street wearing them that they’re AirPods. Otherwise you have to wonder if it’s a hearing aid crammed into their ear canal like those Samsung buds look like.

Apple is all about instant brand awareness, I doubt they’d go away from it anytime soon.

this has already been granted to the AirPods since a couple of years now, after the initial toothbrush header shock, it is the norm now (countless knockoffs) in other words, the bet that is now relevant for Apple is to show a new, advanced, distinguishable product, that is even handier, if not equally so, than the current gen APP.

Just wait for Mr. Upselling Cook to keep selling the 1st gen Pro for a little less of the current price and the 2nd gen for an additional 100 bucks. Of course gen 1 will no longer come with a wireless charging case. If you want that, you will need to spend 100 bucks extra
Or Apple will sell the left and right Airpods separately... :D

What about an update to the PowerBeats Pro? With Apple fitness a workout designed set of earphones would be nice.

It’s gonna be AirPods Pro 2 and Pro 2 Max, because Pro 2 is already a Plus-sized AirPod.

Probably never. Beats never really caught on after Apple‘s takeover. Sony, Bose, etc. won.

You know, most Chinese knock offs have the stern as well... with the exception of Huawei, etc., those high-end ones don’t have the stern.

I'm in the market ready to buy either AirPods or AirPods Pro. Reckon I should hold off for the new models?

Yeah I was thinking about that too. Once they do finally get rid of the stem, those will look SO outdated, even laughable maybe if we get enough years in between those and new tech.

I think the stem looks good on the pros. The original stems were too long and i must be honest I look at people wearing them now and am glad I am wearing the pros instead lol.

I don't mind the stem at all. it's useful for control. I guess they could go back to the tapping approach like on the non-pro AirPods, but it's fine with me either way.

You said it perfectly

I wouldn’t. If you want a pair, I think now is the time with plenty of discounts offered. Otherwise, you will always be waiting for the ‘next best product’. I found the AirPods Pro to be kind of uncomfortable, where the regular AirPods rest on the outermost portion of your ear. But everybody’s different. I think the main advantage with the AirPod pros they are louder over the regular AirPods, and the active noise cancellation is excellent.
