I wouldn’t. If you want a pair, I think now is the time with plenty of discounts offered. Otherwise, you will always be waiting for the ‘next best product’. I found the AirPods Pro to be kind of uncomfortable, where the regular AirPods rest on the outermost portion of your ear. But everybody’s different. I think the main advantage with the AirPod pros they are louder over the regular AirPods, and the active noise cancellation is excellent.
Another thing that I think helps with the AirPods Pro, is the pressure regulation they have for in-ear headphones. It’s what made every other in-ear headset unusable for me, as I couldn’t stand the pressure. And although I occasionally have the Pro’s slip out of my ears (mainly when I haven’t cleaned the cones in a few days), they stay put better than the regular AirPods, which always were a head tip away from falling out. It will be interesting to see what Apple adds to the next iteration of AirPod Pro’s. About the only thing I’d like to see is longer battery life, maybe some additional moisture protection.

Not sure why Apple would want to get rid of the stem when it’s so functional... it’s easy to grab and squeezing the stem to play/pause, turn ANC/Transparency mode on/off, etc. is very user-friendly and a big improvement over the original Airpods with the tapping method.

Could you share what has been the issue?
I love the AirPods Pro but it did take me about a week of one side doing some rubbing in my right ear... it went away.
And before getting the Max ones I would use these almost 24/7 (taking a break only to charge them). After months of that I did get about two days of a clogged-like almost no hearing issue... scary. Wonder if it is similar to your experience.
Care to elaborate?

I got my pair of AirPod pros exactly this time last year.

I would only wear them in short bursts, but always noticed an itching sensation in my ears after use. Tbh I didn’t think to much about it. As I’ve spent much of my life using earphones of various shapes and sizes I just figured it was something to get used to.

I searched online for topics about this but could never find anything.

As we’ve had the whole corona thing this year and I had prolonged period of home working (I’m in the UK), I used them much more during our door walks or having to speak online with colleagues.

I would say this kicked in about the start of April and by around June I noticed my ears were in a nut shell f****d. Really sore itchy and lots of discharge. Clear liquid. Flaky itchy skin around the ear entrance.

I had online consultation with my doc and twice over the summer was diagnosed with ear infections. I have never ever suffered with my ears.

I decided to stop using them. Throughout the autumn I had minimal use. I tried two different types of ear tips to eliminate this following what I had read online.

my wife tried them and had the exact same itchy ears after a really short amount of use. Not even an hours use.

following no use for at least two months I used them on a 45 minute walk. At the end my ears had gone really sore and had filled with liquid again.

After this I got rid of them.

I should point out, I absolutely loved them, they sounded great, had an excellent fit and just worked really well. ever since my ears have constantly itches and felt sore. I’ve been using the out the box iPhone 11 EarPods predominantly not and considering getting a pair of original style AirPods again. They didn’t have a great fit when I had them before but I liked the luck of wire.

if you search online AirPod pro ear itching, or something like that you will find threads talking about it.

Hope that helps. Sorry so long winded but the context is important.

Strive to be better. technology is about advancements not staying the same place even it may be successful, imho.

AirPods Pro? Or AirPod Pros. Neither sound right to me, but the second sounds closer to correct.

excited for this! i’ve been holding out for an airpods refresh to replace my dying first gen.

Yeah, I don't need these. I already am satisfied with my AirPods Max and AirPods Pro 1st Gen.
  • AirPods Max: Desktop headphones, when I am at my desk and doing my work
  • AirPods Pro: On the go earbuds, when I am traveling and moving about.
Thanks, but no thanks.
cool subtle brag bro

Can't agree more. Squeezing the stem is the best control scheme you can have on Bluetooth earbuds. It beautifully mimics the physical button control on the original EarPods.

Cool if they can shrink it down without battery compromise. My AirPods pretty much only lasted 18 months before it’s unusable. Tough pill to swallow to have to replace them every couple of years with light usage.

I much prefer the tapping function on the original airpods to change tracks, especially when in the gym, as I find squeezing the stems tends to unseat the fit. Maybe they could come up with a combination of the two?

Because of sound quality, even 30$ in ear true wireless are better but to be honest, standard Airpods are awesome when it comes about comfort but
Airpods Pro are semi in ear which is the best compromise
I hope they will make longer stem for Airpods Pro lol
Better for the mic, bigger battery life
I tried some model with 12 hours, even 14 hours of battery life, that's incredible (Creative Outlier Air V2 got much better battery life than my Airpods Pro and also good sound quality with lot of bass)
I believe if Apple make sightly longer stem and improve battery life, it would be possible to reach 10 hours per charge which could be truly awesome

Do they come in black?
do they sound better than 20$ earbuds?
If yes then I am Interested.

the source has a 50% track record so dunno about this...

think as long as it improves ANC and overall sound it could be worth upgrading.

good thing is - both of them will fit in a garbage bin. maybe even together...

They removed the home button.
Except that they didn't, I can still buy a new iPhone with a home button.

But on a serieus note, removing the home button actually had an advantage (screen-to-body ratio), removing the stem doesn't, apart from being their signature it's also just more convenient than those round buds the competitors have also making the ear part not too large which imo just looks worse than the stem does.

Same here, the double tap gesture is much quicker and I don’t even need to be that accurate, just hitting my ear will do the trick. Getting my fingers around those little stems to double/triple squeeze them is a much slower and more delicate operation and usually requires me to stop whatever exercise equipment I’m on to do it.

I’d definitely be down with a combination of both features, using the squeeze to increase/decrease volume would be awesome.
