The longer battery life of second-generation AirPods Pro is partly achieved by use of physically bigger batteries, regulatory filings show.

Compared to the first-generation AirPods Pro, Apple says that the second-generation model features an additional 1.5 hours of battery life with Active Noise Cancellation enabled for a total of six hours. Listings on the 3C database spotted by MySmartPrice reveal that the AirPods Pro 2 earbuds feature a battery capacity of 49.7mAh. This is an increase of 15 percent over the 43.24mAh capacity of the first-generation AirPods Pro.

The second-generation AirPods Pro's MagSafe Charging Case features a battery capacity of 523mAh, an increase of just 4mAh over the previous model. According to Apple, the second-generation AirPods Pro's MagSafe Charging Case provides an additional six hours of battery life for a total of 30 hours of listening time with Active Noise Cancellation enabled. As such, it is highly likely that the charging case's longer battery life is actually mostly derived from improvements to the earbuds.

Beyond physically larger batteries, the second-generation AirPods Pro's H2 chips and skin-detect sensors also help to prolong battery life thanks to better efficiency.

I got these this past weekend and they're pretty good, but I'd like spatial audio turned off 100% at all times. Haven't found a way to turn it off 100%. I can turn off personalized spatial audio in Bluetooth settings, but it seems there's some kind of spatial audio at all times.

The case remains constantly connected to my Iphone 12 pro max and and completely uselessly displays the charging status of the Airpods and the case. Even on the new lock screen, the case is always displayed in the widget. The charging status of the Watch is then not available. I suspect a UWB connection, since the display does not disappear even with Bluetooth deactivated.

All good, except charging case needs to be USB-C!!
haha.. you wish, perhaps 2-3 more years from now. It's a huge improvement for me already with the ability to charge with the MagSafe Duo.
Considering Apple doesn't update the AirPods line-up every year like the iPhone, then yeah I agree that the AirPods Pro won't see USB-C until 3 years from now....unless the European Union gets their way and forces Apple to put USB-C on them. Apple would only need to update the case anyhow, not the AirPods themselves.

Little improvement?? It’s got a lanyard holder thingy!! Take my $$
I know this was supposed to be a joke considering the “little improvement” was talking about the battery in the case, not the overall case itself, because the hole for a lanyard wasn’t the only thing added. The added speakers in the case and better precision tracking are pretty big upgrades.

Frankly, I do not share the apparent obsession that many have for USB-C. Especially for AirPods, which do not need a faster data connection. I have many more lightning cables that USB-C, and it is not a problem for me. Besides, AirPods Pro 2 also charge by MagSafe, Apple Watch charger, and regular wireless charging. In addition, I find the lightning connection to be easier to use (even in the dark when listening in bed) and more durable in general that USB-C.

When Apple switches the connection to USB-C, that will be fine with me (although a lot of of perfectly good lightning cables will have to be recycled.)

Open the control center and "Haptic Touch the volume" there should be a setting to turn off spacial audio.

Gen 2 sound way better. If you're not upgrading and have get 1, you can set Apple Music EQ to Latin (strange, I know) to flatten out the sound . My gen 1 sound almost like the gen2 if I do this. This is from looking a the EQ curves of the Gen1 headphones and then finding the EQ preset that best flattens it.

How can possibly it be easier to use?! It’s an endless annoyance just figuring out which end of the cable is which!

And why shouldn’t we be able to use the same cable to charge an iPhone or AirPods as we do for our iPads, MacBooks, and every other device out there? It doesn’t make any sense to have to use a different, inferior, proprietary plug just because it’s Apple.

They are nice, but I don't get why I'm blocked from having a firmware upgrade from the factory version despite running the latest version of macOS, iPadOS and the latest STABLE version of iOS (v15.7) 💀

Come on Apple stop this nonsense and release the latest firmware !

Yah, but a bigger battery is needed for Find My.

Which I could have used before I scoured the Best Buy parking lot last year, only to find them underneath my driver's seat.

Mocking me.
Too funny :) The best humour is ones that we say to slightly jab ourselves.

Your experience is, maybe, akin to wearing your glasses on top of your head and asking if anyone has seen your glasses.
