do you every use anything that you throw away? Then that likely adds up to a lot more stuff thrown in the landfill that Airpods. Airpods are a very small amount of material, mostly plastic. There is a very good chance that you are already throwing out a lot more already.

Sure, it would be great is there was a way to effectivly recycle them and maybe Apple does some when they take them back but realistically, there are much bigger issues to deal with.
Most people discard 100X the mass of AirPods in landfills every single day. One non-rechargeable alkaline AA battery is probably worth 4 AirPods in material.

Yes, they work like a charm for 4.5 hours. I have to pair now just to get over the limited battery life.
This is true. I only use mine at the gym for an hour to an hour and a half and it gets me by. But I have noticed that drain is quicker even sitting in the case. Eats up case battery quicker.

At the beginning of the summer, I upgraded from the AirPods to the pros and was stunned at the sound quality difference and stunned how good the psycho-acoustics are on Atmos movies. Am interested to read reviews on how much they improve these things. Might not be too long before home theater systems are challenged.
The eartip replacements are limited by the small case itself.
Apple should make the case bigger, or at least open up the inside space, so it would make it roomier for bigger tips, which should help with bigger size selections.
Apple should also include the foam tips, instead of the silicone tips, which provide better fit and better noise insulation.
The Apple silicone tips are terrible that it don't fit well and provides no sound insulation.
Tried various different brands of foam tips and none truly fit well and provide barely acceptable noise insulation. The tips need to be bigger but it won't fit in the small case.
Also, the APP updates basically destroyed the ANC/Transparency modes. The original update that was included in the APP was terrific (>1 yr ago) and had very good ANC/Transparency modes. But the later updates basically took it away. THAT has been a complaint by many users, here in this forum and on many various online forums and comment boards.
I'm 6'1" and the large tips work perfectly for me. A nice tight fit. Along with using ear hooks, I couldn't ask for anything more. I've gotta ask, how tall are you/how big are your ears?

I'm 6'0" but that doesn't necessarily relate to one's ear sizes as everyone's ears are different including the left and right sides which could be different sizes as well.

Tried Too many different brands, from generic foam tips to brand name like Charjenpro and Comply Foam, which I've used in the past with my older In-ear monitors from Shure and Westone. I miss the 3.5" port so I can use the In-ear monitors.

The foam tips basically work in that it keeps the APPs in the ear but it does not provide a very good seal. Even the larger sized tips are too 'small' (too shallow) and doesn't insert into the ears (longer and wider) like the tips used in the In-ear monitors which are terrific.

Also, the APP updates keep messing with the ANC/Transparency functions.
It used to be great when I first bought them but the newer updates keep messing it that it's not that good anymore. It's already been reported here in the forums long ago, esp. about the APP updates' effects, and elsewhere on various online forums.

Generally speaking, taller people have bigger heads. Generally speaking, bigger heads usually come with bigger ears. Most people are happy with the APP. You can see that in glowing reviews and ratings. I don't know what your ears are shaped like when you say all the APP tips are too shallow in your ears. You don't want earbuds or anything else to go too far into your ear canal. Not good for multiple reasons.

It sounds like the APP just aren't for you. Perhaps you should try the Sony XM buds. They have memory foam tips. Or, once again, try ear hooks. I just bought some on Amazon and now I actually use my APP rather than letting them collect dust as they have been over the past 2-years.

I’m an IC designer that worked on the class D amplifier. Expect much improved SNR and power consumption at the very least. That’s all I can say
At Apple?

Can you possibly give some insight on why Apple went beserko with trying so hard to create epic bass on the 2021 16" MBPs that it sounds woefully artificially overcooked? Especially with spoken voice, there is a hollow, muddy, muffled sound to it. It's so bad that I've had to go to town on the EQ settings with Audio Hijack to get it even remotely bearable. Even then, it's still not quite right.

2. "The latest and greatest" whatever that means, in this case means wireless audio - which you couldn't do at all 40 years ago.

Uh…

Not to pee on your cheerio parade or anything, but there was perfect wireless audio 40 years ago. It was analog, multichannel, ran around 128Mhz FM or so, I don’t remember exactly. Still used today for a lot of high end concert stuff. Bluetooth is just a crappy replacement for the serial cable, and 40 years after it’s introduction, it’s still less reliable than a serial cable. Audio over Bluetooth is just about the stupidest thing ever… well now that I think about it, it actually is the stupidest thing ever.

I wanted the comfort improved in them! Those little soft caps really make my ears itch after a short period of time and I had to step back to the AirPods 3 because of that.

No. Not at Apple. We designed the chip for them

I own the current airpod pros and they are my go to for calls, and they have great ANC. I actually just got a replacement pair from apple because I thought the static and poor anc was a time induced thing, where I was just imagining it getting worse. Anyway, guy replaced them and wow they sound so good again. Anyway, if you are broke, recommend the soundpeats mini pro for the poor man’s version. Arguably better sound, but AirPods better everything else. Which brings me to my point.
The soundpeats above, my wife’s beats fit pro both sound much better sound Q wise. Really want the new ones to be industry leading in the sound again or close to it, like when the originals pros launched.

I’m all for giving people the option. I’ve just never seen any evidence that anyone can actually discern a difference with lossless formats. I do understand that when music is remastered for lossless they often clean things up and improve mix, but that would be available for lossless or lossy.
You mean to say that people waffling on about how they can tell the difference isn’t enough evidence for you?

What I want them to finally have is Bluetooth 5.2/3 support which of course Apple has omitted for the past 2 + years. That would help for starters, get rid of the SBC codec, etc. This article really does skim on how they improve over the original AirPods Pro if they DO improve. I’m expecting the iPhone 14 to finally have BT 5.2 & Wi-Fi 6E at the very LEAST. Let’s hope Apple does not disappoint yet again.

I remember when Monster Cables would proclaim that their special cables would make your music sound so much better. People bought into it and would spend $100 on a cable that did nothing but make them feel like they were getting something special.

Yeah. I remember reading an article online about that. This tech website did a comparison of the Monster cables against 5 dollar cables and the quality wasn't any different. You're literally just paying for the branding.

Feel like AirPods Pro will soon reach IPad like territory where it becomes hard to improve on them given they are so good and nobody has a reason to upgrade.
But unlike old school headphones every headphone has an expiration date in the battery. I don't know if the life expectancy for battery power is longer than the old death by cord that plagued this kind of earphones?

Beats Fit Pro has pretty much obliterated AirPods in terms of sound quality…remember that? Sound quality? THE driving factor behind a pair of earphones. Miss me with all of the other nonsense.
The microphones in the Beats Fit Pro are even worse than any Airpods.

It shouldn't even have been possible to have worse mics, but they found a way to make it happen!

An excellent question across the board: do Lithium batteries go bad before cords wear out?

I've honestly only experienced either a couple of times—I find that either something else goes wrong (hopefully under AppleCare) or I upgrade first.

But my wife is using my old iPhone X and the battery is holding about 79% of the charge, presenting a dilemma…
