Does anyone know if the charging case is the same size as previous model? I've got a case for the charging case (I know, I know), and was wondering if it'll fit.

same question, but if it fits the UAG case will cover the speaker grills and lanyard hook
Speaker would be the only catch 22 but would just have to test to see how muffled I know I have full cases on airtags and they still sound fine. As for the lanyard hook there is a hook on my UAG case so I’m not broken up about it.

"lanyards sold separately" is the most Apple thing I've read all day.
'Apple announced that customers can personalize the second-generation AirPods Pro case with their own Memoji free of charge via the Apple Store app."

Checkmate.

skin detect sensor ...so if i keep the airpod in my hand it recognised my skin and start playing ?!
That has been a problem for me with the first-gen AirPods Pros. Whenever I'm holding them in the palm of my hand, they think they're in use and pick up feedback from themselves and start squealing.

I got a nice leather case for mine on sale after my keys scratched up the plastic. I wish I could reuse it, but from what I read the dimensions will not be the same. I guess they are the same?

But keep in mind with the new speaker holes and lanyard loop, you'd probably need a new case anyway.

I am in no way surprised the lanyard is sold separately
Makes sense to me.
I don't plan to use a lanyard, I plan to use a carabiner to hang it on a belt buckle like I do right now.
So why not leave me the freedom to get a carabinerm you get a lanyard, and we're both happy?

I may just pick up a neck style (camera) lanyard for bike path walks. Let the third party lanyard wars begin!!!;)

I can’t wait to buy $50 lanyards to match my $50 Apple Watch Sport bands

The same way the proximity sensor sometimes registers a false positive when holding them in your hand. But right now, they'll sometimes start playing when I shove them in my pocket, and hopefully the skin sensor will fix those false positives.

I'll listen to music while walking my dog, and if I run into someone I know I'll quickly take out an AirPod or both and put them in my pocket. Not into the charging case - can't do it one-handed while holding the leash, and it's just for a minute anyway. Just into my pocket. And often they'll start playing because the proximity sensor thinks it's in my ears. Hopefully the skin sensors fixes that.
I'm constantly amazed at how little effort people make to solve these small problems.

Check out, eg: https://www.amazon.com/BRG-Released-Silicone-Shock-Absorbing-Protective/dp/B07ZZG8DH7
Hang from a belt buckle, easily accessed, no problems with random banging you don't notice.

Or if you just want to place an airpod somewhere for a minute or two:

Sits on your watch strap, holds your airpods while you talk.

You do know that lanyards will be available on AMZ for $5 (just like you can buy $10 watch bands today) right? (Hell you can get a pack of FOUR bands for $10).

So what EXACTLY is your complaint?

The charging cases seem to be identical.
Specs for the 2021-updated AirPods Pro:

  • Height: 1.78 inches (45.2 mm)
  • Width: 2.39 inches (60.6 mm)
  • Depth: 0.85 inch (21.7 mm)
  • Weight: 1.61 ounces (45.6 grams)

Specs for AirPods Pro 2:

  • Height: 1.78 inches (45.2 mm)
  • Width: 2.39 inches (60.6 mm)
  • Depth: 0.85 inch (21.7 mm)
  • Weight: 1.79 ounces (50.8 grams)
Great news for those of us with cases… especially the nice Nomad leather ones.

It’s the same thing they did with the AirTags if you wanted a way to attach them to something.

Exactly, for some reason, I think MR is going to be filled with all sorts of articles about Anker, Belkin, or whoever, releasing a new lanyard every other week. Similar to anytime anyone releases yet another charging brick right now.

I'll be pre ordering a pair. I think the apple watch charging support will actually come in handy for me at least. Hoping it has LE audio or the ability to activate it with a firmware update.

I already have a lanyard from my 1st-generation iPod Shuffle (the white chewing gum package version with no display) so I'm already well-equipped. I'm sure it'll attach with a very satisfying click.
