I got a different issue as connection is fine. My airpods simply don't show up on the Find My app. Also, since receiving my airpods and have been charging them, I'm still on firmware 5A374 and still no update to 5A377 and I know it updates randomly during charging which I don't like. I Tried a handful of methods to fix as well as Apple support chat telling me the same methods of like unpairing and repairing the pods, turning off and on Find My, and restarting the phone which I'm on IOS 15.7. Others in different posts have said it'll naturally fix itself and update but I'm a little impatient. I have also deleted my old gen airpods so the phone wouldn't confuse them. Hope someone can relate if they have this issue or have solved it then share what you did. I do consider a trip to the Apple Store in case they can figure something or test them or just use my Applecare if they replace mine idk.

Just an update, I've returned my pro gen2s as I think I didn't want to take chances with them issuing another pair of pods that potentially don't agree with my ears' structure.

Will be waiting for any new software updates after 5A377 that addresses the fixes to ANC warbles, inconsistencies and imbalance of sounds, before considering to take the leap of faith again.

lotta quality control issues lately, Apple. It's getting like the video game world: "just release it and we'll fix it with an update."

Same issues with iOS 15.7 > no updates, no "find my" or "optimized charging" battery options to select. iOS 16 is too buggy to switch and see if that fixes things.

No sound issues though, no dropouts, and bass is stronger than my APP v1.

Watching Netflix or listening to Spotify on my Macbook, my APP 2's will drop out a few times per hour. Sound drops, the movie stops, then starts again by itself after a few seconds. Usually. Some times it won't start again, and I have to unpair -> pair to get sound back.

It has also happened while listening to music on the iPhone, but not so often.

Another, more rare issue has been the pods going out of sync. Have to unpair/pair to get them back in sync.

I can’t even update to the latest AirPod firmware on the latest iPadOS or MacOS, they want you to have the unreleased versions!!! WTF!! (I only upgrade my phone each March when all the worst bugs are fixed - I’m not f’g risking my daily driver!)

Same here, my iPad mini 6 and MacBook Pro 14" are on the latest OS, but won't update the AirPods Pro 2.

AirPods Pro 2 dropouts

(I never had this problem with AirPods 1, 2 or AirPods Pro 1)

Unfortunately, Bluetooth drops out twice per minute for 4-5 seconds if iMac or iPad in same house.

Completely unusable.

Bluetooth drops out 2-3 times per hour when outside in a park, no other devices or people in sight

I've done all this Forgets, Re-connects, Bluetooth off and on, everything at least five times now. Doesn't help.

What a mess.

Serious bad design

Update: I'm now turning off "connect to this .. automatically" to see if that helps

Update2: That helps but still getting 4-5 second dropouts every few minutes.

I’ve had several rare random drop outs, but I thought it was due to have a bunch of Apple devices. I just chalked it up to normal tech behavior, as I also had the same quirk with my Sony M4 headset when connected to two devices at a time.

(yes, the sound quality is much superior to APP1)

Still problems. Disconnecting 3-4 times per minute, then right ear reconnects after 2-3 seconds, and left ear after total 4-5 seconds.

Disconnections happen with all sources: 2017 iMac 5K (Monterey), iPad Air 3 (iPadOS 16.1), iPhone 8+ (iOS 16.1)

I have done all the resets, forgets, disconnects, into/out of the case (close 10 secs then open), into the case one ear at a time, turned off Ear Detection, turned off Auto switching between iDevices. Nothing helps.

iMac bluetooth is OFF, iPad Air 3 bluetooth is OFF. Only iPhone 8+ and AirPods Pro 2 are using bluetooth in my home.

I spoke to Apple UK Support, 33 minutes, then escalated 25 minutes. Apple is aware of this problem. They do not think returning the AirPods Pro 2 to Amazon for replacement is a guaranteed solution.

I’m afraid there’ll always be one.

Yeah the connection drop is annoyingly noticeable. There also seems to be some audio distortion in the first couple of seconds. The APP2’s performance is all but stellar.
I take this back. This particular problem got solved after the latest firmware update. I love these little gems so much that I just ordered a 2nd pair of APP2’s and will be picking them up in the Apple Store this Wednesday. Now I am able to wear them 24/7 without disruption

I decided to roll the dice, returned them, and Amazon is shipping a replacement pair.

And I agree, other than the disconnections, these are wonderful. The sound is clearly better than APP1

Here’s a YouTube video that compares old versus new firmware. If you don’t want to watch, the conclusions are that sound is a bit more V-shaped, making female voices brighter. He played a sample side-by-side and to me, it sounds a lot better. Noise cancellation is also better on the mid-range with no penalties on the low and high range. Microphone quality sounded the same, though external noises seem to be blocked better in the new firmware.

Overall, after watching this video, the new firmware seems to be an improvement with nothing made worse.

I am getting audio dropouts on 5B58. 2-3 seconds every 5-10 mins, and distortion on cut out and return. Audio source app doesn’t matter (PocketCasts, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube.) Bluetooth does not report a lost connection, and the source audio does not pause.

Anyone else still having this problem on the latest firmware?

I found that "Ambient Noise Reduction" ON, in the "ear" control panel on my iPhone 8+ causes this, so I keep it off.

Not to sound ungrateful, but that’s why I bought these earbuds. That’s why I paid the premium. I’m more interested in and fix it allows me to use all the
Features.
