The AirPods Pro 3 will feature a slightly smaller charging case and a capacitive pairing button, according to the leaker known as Majin Bu.

Citing discussions with a prominent accessory manufacturer, the leaker says that the charging case of the AirPods Pro 3 could be slightly smaller than that of the current model, but will otherwise will be "almost identical" with no major changes. Other reports similarly indicate that the charging case may be marginally smaller.

The rear pairing button is to be removed and replaced with a capacitive button on the front of the case, just like the AirPods 4. As a result, accessory makers no longer need to make allowances for the physical rear pairing button. Additional functionality for the new capacitive button, such as playback controls, is also possible. The lanyard loop continues to be present.

Majin By says that the launch of the AirPods Pro 3 is imminent, with announcement likely at Apple's September "Awe Dropping" event. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently reiterated that the AirPods Pro 3 are still expected to launch this year.

Kinda annoying having a capacitance button if you keep your AirPods in a case, like I do. The case scratches if you give it the stink-eye from across the room, and if you drop it, the lid pops and they go flying..

Bought a case with a physical latch on it and am much happier.

I don't get why AirPods can't be locked to your Apple account the way that an iPhone is so that you can disable them when lost or stolen. Imagine buying 550€ AirPods Max, someone could very easily steal them while wearing and there goes your hard earned money. When it comes to the earbuds, just lock the case with the Apple account so that a simple reset won't unlock them.

If only they could change that, and also keep improving audio.

Am I reading it wrong or is it really that AirPods Pro 3 is going to be identical to Pro 2? Or is it just the case it is referring to? If so, why is Apple even upgrading AirPods Pro now? Or are they silently downgrading the ANC capabilities of Pro 2 so that they make Pro 3 sound better than Pro 2?

I want to hear from the Btesters about the «auto translation» and what languages will it work with.

My first gen APP are still working after 5+ years, but reading how the 2nd gen APP don't hold up as well I'm unsure what brand I will buy next when my current pair eventually dies. I kinda of feel like maybe I should exclusively go back to wired earbuds which I still use regularly with my phone.

I have had so many charging issues and power drain issues with my gen 2 case, which led to two warranty replacements, that I am hesitant to drop $250 on another pair.
You dont have to buy them day one. Just wait and they will drop in price. Remember the holidays are around the corner, i can easily see them on sale for 199 or less. Personally i wait for the Costco sales which included AppleCare.

Looking forward to these. Already got my $$$ saved up for these.

Gave my female friend my AirPods Pro 2 since her original pros were near death, loves all the new features.

On the other hand, there is absolutely no personal data collected with your AirPods, and they are cheap enough that I feel like this would just lead to an exponential increase in AirPods related e-waste.
Yeah, it’s quite annoying that if someone steals your AirPods, they can start using them immediately just fine.
But on the other hand, it means that if anyone who is not too familiar with technology just wants to sell AirPods that they aren’t using, no matter how old they are, the new user can immediately start using them no problem.
If we start locking them to Apple IDs, like we do the iPhone already, so many people who tried to buy ones that are locked or even just find old ones that they may have purchased themselves locked to old accounts will end up just thrown away because they don’t feel like dealing with the hassle.
