Personally, I'd an appreciate a soft, in-ear "hook" to hold the units in place (like the older Bose QuietComfort).

I've never had an AirPod (any model) stay in my ear for more than a few seconds :/
I think the hook is exclusive to the Beats earbuds so that they could differentiate between the AirPods and Beats. I don't think Apple will ever bring the hook design to the AirPods.

Kinda annoying having a capacitance button if you keep your AirPods in a case, like I do. The case scratches if you give it the stink-eye from across the room, and if you drop it, the lid pops and they go flying..

Bought a case with a physical latch on it and am much happier.
You can still operate your capacitance button even if you have a case on your AirPods. I use a case for my AirPods 4 and it works fine.

To put my displeasure out there into the ether, so that everyone (Apple included) knows that these are not universally praised and there is a lot of unmet potential for improvement in a newer model. I don’t have to go into detail to make it known that the product could, and should be better.
Apple could make changes based on feedback but this won't get you anywhere. But it's fine, I'm not looking to defend Apple on this one. I'm personally not sticking with AirPods for a third round because I've switched to Android, but I'm not sure what alternatives I should consider.

Expecting all these changes to be true as it will be similar to the AirPods 4. Expecting to see it next month.
