I also think we may be seeing the first major redesign of the AirPods Pro. It may look more like the Beats Fit Pro than the current AirPods Pro. Also, don't be surprised if Apple upgrades to an H3 Bluetooth chip and/or U3 UWB chip, too. I wouldn't be surprised that the AirPods Pro 3 may allow Apple Lossless audio playback wirelessly through Bluetooth 6.0 on the iPhone 17/17 Pro models.

I love my APP 2 so much. For me one of Apples best products.

Looking forward to the next version.
No cuz genuinely they are 100% worth the money, I bought them since November 2022 and to this day I have had no issues l, the durability is absolutely incredible I mean I’ve used them everyday like minimum 2 times a day draining battery from 100% to 20%, I’ve used them in gym, outside in rain, snow, I’ve dropped them and they just refuse to break, and most importantly the sound quality is incredible in this tiny thing.

Is there anything that differentiates the “pro” other than the rubber tips?

Interesting as I have the same experience, but opposite. If its not a pro with the silicone tips then they just wont stay in my ears at all. Even just turning my head will make them wiggle lose and make the sound quality terrible. God forbid I try to work out with them in. Fighting the headphones becomes old quick. With that being said, I have not tried no silicone airpods since before the original airpod pro's came out with the tips
Almost lost one of my APP3 under an airplane seat yesterday, as the damn silicone tips are much worse than my AP2 at staying where they’re supposed to!

I thought Translation was coming to Pro 2’s via iOS 19, not just Pro 3’s…

Some images come to mind for me...

Come on, Apple, you need a flashy product release right now!

(I'd really like to replace my current gen1 Pros that went through the laundry)

It’s amazing how my AirPods 4 with ANC basically replaced my AirPods Pro 2

I haven’t used them in months and months
I own both and I do far prefer the ANC on the Pros, it's just much better. But they do have the slight disadvantage that it will deplete your ears of honey more easily.

The battery life is the biggest drawback on the current APP2. Not sure how much that can be improved upon though, as I doubt that they will make the earbuds themselves any larger or heavier and all the extra features they keep adding just seems to drain the battery even more. But if they could make the battery last longer, I would consider purchasing.

The ANC on APP is unquestionably better, by design of the tips and isolation, etc

My point was that the AP4's have "enough" of what I personally use ANC for while simultaneously giving me the more open design flexibility and comfort.

The AP4-ANC hit a real sweet spot for me ... to the point that I have almost no use for my APP2s anymore

They really stepped up the sound quality in v2. My AirPods Max gather dust. I'm hoping for even better sound for music.

Don't the APP2's already support lossless? I thought it was just hi-res lossless that can't be played over BT.

I’m hoping I find the same as you, just picked up a pair of the AP4’s with ANC but haven’t tried them yet. I use my AP3’s 90% of the time over the APP2’s, it’s a comfort thing for me - and the natural transparency you get with them over the APP2’s transparency mode. There are a ton of scenarios I wish I had ANC, the gym for instance - so I’m hoping these AP4’s just hit that sweet spot for me as well.

My left bud/ear will not remain sealed with the APP2’s, it just becomes slightly unsealed which breaks the sound quality/ANC of course - my right bud/ear remains sealed without issue, it’s weird. I’ve tried all three tip sizes, nada.

I think you'll love them, assuming fit works for you.

They are very much between an AP2 and AP3 on "fit"

The one time I use my AP4s at the gym is on the stair machine, where I do use and appreciate the ANC.

The rest of my gym time is with AP2s with silicone covers/tips on them, as I get into various positions where anything without tips falls out.

Without larger, deeper, rounder, more rigid, less slippery eartips, APP are a solid “no” for me.

Good thing the B&W Pi8s work so well with Azla Crystal tips. It’s an unbeatable combination.

Nice to see I’m not alone in finding the AP4s more comfortable that the APP2s. I do really like the APP2s but the in-ear tips really irritate my ear canals. The AP4s sound the same to me, with just the ANC being about 75% what you get on the Pros; I think it’s just the lack of silicone tips to block external noise the differentiate them. If only Apple had included volume controls on the AP4 stems… 😢

I’ll probably get the APP3s as the Pros are the best for situations where you really need to block out noise. Who knows, maybe Apple will update the tip design to be less irritating?

My APP2 get a lot of use. During commute, drowning out chatty coworkers. Better microphones for calls and better ANC would be reasons to update. But I’m not sure that’s even physically possible.

Love the APP, especially as Apple does not kill it’s earbuds with firmware upgrades as Sony seems to like to do. The 2 were an amazing step up in terms of sound quality, I hope the 3 continues that trend.

After the AirPods MAX 2 debacle I am not holding my breath. “Here is a case in black now” would not surprise me as the total update. I hope to be pleasantly surprised but not holding my breath. Hopefully they are tooling up manufacturing somewhere outside of China.

Hope they gonna learn something from the recents Beats Pro's half baked heart rate sensor.
