No replaceable batteries? Hard pass.
I remember only reading about a crowd sourced campaign with in-ear buds that had replaceable battery stems. That was about three years ago and I never heard of it ever again. Pray tell whos buds are you using that have replaceable batteries... Inquiring minds want to know.

I only ask to cancel the white noise of the fan in summer. Am I asking too much?

My favourite ap2 pro feature is audiogram. I can use my own (taken from Mimi app) or from doctor. It is most underrated feature and I do not know why Apple is not advertising it.
It works so well…

I wouldn’t mind a yearly upgrade of the AirPods Pro line. I wear them everyday so after a year they’re pretty worn out tbf. Happy to read that Apple keeps improving the noise cancellation. It’s actually the only Apple product I’m looking forward to atm.

The ANC in the AirPods I currently have are really good. If they're making it better than this, I will be even happier. They will certainly be a day one purchase.
I agree. They're fantastic for what they are. But the AirPods Max still have slightly better ANC. If this next gen can surpass the AirPods Max, that'll be something.

Use my AirPods Pro second gen every day since they launched and still hold up great. The ANC still works amazingly, but the mics need to be better with voice isolation for phone calls. I feel like anything in the background is amplified and makes it hard for the other person on the other side of the line to hear me.

Likely max life 3 years. 100= million going to landfill every year. Yikes.
I get it. But it's also tiny. I mean my Studio Display, even if it gets 20 years of life, will still be significantly more electronic waste than buying new AirPods every year for the rest of my life.

I'm willing to bet that AirPods is literally causing the least amount of waste of any major Apple product. Even the silicone cases have all those magnets.

AirPods Pro are one of the few products that I will always buy when a new version comes out, no matter what. They are so good. The last version was such a great quality of life upgrade, so I doubt this one will be as substantial, but we’ll see. I really want them to come in space black! With better ANC, the only other thing I’d like to see is longer battery life and maybe eke out some small gains in audio quality. They already sound great. And of course it will be nice to have USB-C, since I upgraded before they added that.

I keep my old ones around to use while doing yard work. My original AirPods Pro are really beat up at this point, in terms of some weird glitches with ANC and lower battery life. The second gen has held up much better at this point in its life, so I’m now looking forward to using those when I’m mowing and such. I hope they get announced at the upcoming event! But I think they might get announced at a smaller event later in the autumn, at the earliest.

Apple needs to hire a the lead guy from Framework and the entire Fairphone team.

Use both to setup an OPTIONAL product line where we can OPTIONALLY choose a thicker phone, less-sveldt ear phones for parts replaceability.

But... but... but... foreced disposability is really what Tim & Co. want because of "shareholder value".

No worries, mate.

Simply go with Samsung, Google, Huawei, LG, Xiomi, Kyocera, Sony, etc for your mobile phones, EarPods, etc, and find happiness being able to replace the batteries yourself.

Should be easy, right? :)

Hah! That made me giggle!

Not pretty when drinking cold milk in the morning. A real snorter!

While there have been many rumors about the upcoming AirPods 4, a leaker has now shared an alleged upgrade planned for the AirPods Pro 3.

AirPods-Pro-Second-Generation.jpeg

In a post today on social media platform X, the previously-accurate leaker known as Kosutami claimed that the AirPods Pro 3 will feature "much better" active noise cancellation compared to the AirPods Pro 2, which launched nearly two years ago. However, the leaker did not provide any specific details about this alleged upgrade.

Apple already advertises the AirPods Pro 2 as featuring "up to twice as much" active noise cancellation compared to the original AirPods Pro, so the AirPods Pro 3 would be even more improved in this regard.

Apple is expected to announce both low-end and mid-tier AirPods 4 models during its September 9 special event. Kosutami claimed that the AirPods Pro 3 are also coming "soon," but it is unclear if this information is accurate, as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has previously reported that Apple planned to release redesigned AirPods Pro in 2025.

Both the low-end and mid-tier AirPods 4 are rumored to feature a revised design with better fit in the ear, improved sound quality, and an updated charging case with a USB-C port. The mid-tier AirPods 4 are also said to feature active noise cancellation, and a speaker in the charging case that can play a sound for Find My location tracking.

AirPods Max are also rumored to be updated later this year, but the only change expected is a USB-C charging port instead of Lightning.

Kosutami is known as a prototype Apple product collector, but he has occasionally shared accurate information about Apple's future plans, including details about FineWoven accessories before they launched last year. Kosutami also revealed that iPhone 16 Pro batteries will have a metal enclosure, and this change was later corroborated by other sources.

Now...if only I could get them to stay in my ears.

ANC is already pretty damn impressive on AirPods. I've never wished for more in that area.

These products have many components recycled, they don't just go to the landfill, in fact it's illegal in many places to improperly dispose of electronics.

Phones last a lot longer than 3 years on an original battery - I have a Galaxy S9+ going over 6 years with original battery and it still runs great.

How about making them last longer, Tim? I've gone through 2 pairs of Airpods Pro, they all eventually develop audio / ANC issues that make them borderline unusable.

Don't confuse motivations:
  • Consumer: give me more value for money already paid.
  • Seller: drive more transactions and/or higher margin transactions SOONER.
Since "we" will buy anyway, only one of those tends to win.

This particular set is $21 right now on Amazon. And the number was SEVEN, not 17. $21 times 7 = $147. Apple retail is $249. I've seen sales of APP2 down to $169. Right now on Apple's website, APP2 can be had for $41.50/month for 6 months... or one could buy 2 pair of these and own them outright.

The $17X references were "fill in any number for X" for those who got them on sale at $169 (thus $170) vs. maybe $179. Some have probably seen a rare sale a bit better than that. Others have paid a bit more than that. Apple is offering them for $249 right now on their own website. The "deals roundup" offers provided by this website shows current "sale" prices.

$249/$21 = about 11 pair of these cheapies.

Ok so when you said "I opted to pay $17X for a new pair again", you meant "7X", not that you're just really terrible at math. My bad.
