They'll just downgrade the previous ones...or the H3 chip is speed wise the same as the H2, they just added support for a faster memory and called that enough of a reason to upgrade.

Tim gets informed the "New AirPods Pro" are good to go, and doesn't ask any questions as long as the team met their budget.

Then he goes back to his office, hugs his Vision Pro and says "They just don't understand you, they just don't understand you, they just don't understand you" and then removes his pants and fondles it. The one Apple Car looks on in approval.

Boy that took a turn.

AirPods Pro 2 already sound great (that is to those who can keep them securely in their ears). These are basically just earphones after all. I remember a time when people couldn't care less about earphones upgrades. I used to change them only when one of the cables began to be finicky and I could only hear sound in one hear if I didn't hold the connector firmly into place.

Companies talk about the environment but can't stop to try to find ways to upgrade pretty standard items like earphones and watches that used to last for many, many years. Guess some people will by happy to have a camera looking at their ear canals while monitoring their heartbeats... if their watch doesn't do it already. Oh well.

He didn’t say no improvements, just no “major improvements.” Which of course he can spin any which way when the new AirPods come out. If the improvements are significant, he can still say they’re not “major.” Easy way to make sure any result can be chocked up as a correct prediction.

Win-win.
^This is a smart person.

So it’s a quasi-upgrade. Something to keep the ‘new product launches’ tick box checked.

There used to be a drink called Clayton’s, and the catch cry was, “The drink you have when you’re not having a drink.”

Clayton’s ad

Perhaps Apple is becoming the tech you have when you don’t have tech.

I’m looking forward to seeing all the forum ‘yawns’ 🥱 after the next Apple event 😁

Kind of crazy how 3rd gen Apple products always seem to be either underwhelming or good options to skip while the 4th gens are much larger improvements.

Just to name a few: iPhone 3GS vs 4, iPod touch 3rd gen vs 4th gen, iPad 3rd gen vs 4th gen, Apple TV 3rd gen vs 4th gen, Apple Watch 3rd gen vs 4th gen, AirPods 3rd gen vs 4th gen, etc.
Regardless on what the 3rd gen AirPods are like. Apple has a bad track record with 3rd gen hardware.

Apple: No ANC improvements, no better sound… but hey, we gave you a Fitbit for your ears!

Me: Perfect. Now they can confirm I’m dead inside after realizing Apple sold me the same earbuds for the fourth time.

I beg to differ. The iPhone 3GS was a much-needed upgrade from the 3G. iPhone 3G on iPhoneOS 4 was trash.

I bought a garmin for all the heart rate mumbo jumbo. I don’t like or care about it in my headphones.. you know what I care about sound and ANC lol.. crazy world.

LMAO, I give zero Fs to give about heart rate monitoring in my AirPods Pro. I have an Apple Watch for that. Curious how many people pony up for AirPods Pro that don’t have any kind of fitness tracker? I would guess 10% or less. I figured new AirPods Pro would always be a day one purchase for me. I guess not this year! Especially if the real upgrade is actually coming next year, which has me skeptical.
