I have had every generation and have never encountered this problem. Everyone in my family has them and they too have never experienced it. I use mine everyday and use adaptive transparency when attending loud venues. No problems encountered.

My Pro 2’s make no noise, have much better ANC and sound quality, and are much more comfortable
The Pro 3’s are worse in almost every way.

Why don't you guys report about the crackling noises of the iPhone 17 Pro when charging. Its a hardware design flaw that even records it when recording video. The coilwhine comes from bottom speaker next to the mic AND in the plateau making the camera useless cause it also records the static noise.
Seems like the problem that I believe the iPhone 8 Plus had.

About this post, I had the 3 Pro and the only issue it’s when I have both of them in one hand and they think they’re on ears.

I’ve not had this. I have started seeing a few random disconnections though, which I never experienced on on first gens (which did have noise issues).

Haven't noticed any issues with my Pro 3 so far on the current firmware or the previous one, their main use is on a Windows PC as they get used on that for gaming and movie watching, they occasionally get used on my 17 PM and Ultra 3 and so far they've been great for me.

Haven't noticed any static noise, and the ANC on these even puts my Powerbeats Pro 2 to shame, and I was already very happy with those over the first gen, better fit and better bass as well.

Since the AirPods Pro 3 launched, there have been complaints from users who have noticed a static-like sound or a crackling issue when using the earbuds, particularly when Active Noise Cancellation is on but no media is playing. Users have also run into strange high-pitched whistling sounds that happen intermittently.

We shared the issues back in late October, and despite two subsequent firmware updates, the problems haven't been solved. Apple released AirPods Pro 3 firmware version 8B25 in November, and firmware version 8B30 on December 10.

Feedback from users who have installed the firmware updates indicate that the noise issues have not been addressed. Affected users are hearing static noises with Active Noise Cancellation on, sometimes with media playing and sometimes without. There have also been reports of problems with latency and sound syncing when watching videos.

Some AirPods Pro 3 users have had their AirPods replaced by Apple, but replacement earbuds have had the same issue, so it's not clear if there is a hardware fix for the problem.

Apple's latest firmware updates have not provided details on what's included, specifying only "bug fixes and other improvements."

Probably one of the worst products quality-wise in Apple's history - my original APPs are basically unusable due to permanent crackling noise, especially if you increase the volume - and now this?

Having the same problem (now) but only in the right bud and not constant. Never had this problem before, till the last software update.

Mine don’t have any static noise and ANC is a bit better than APP2, but still sending them back as they are soo uncomfortable im the ears (tried all the tips) - after 20 minutes I can’t wait to pull them out… No comparison to APP2 (medium tips for me) that I don’t even know I have in the ears…
Looked for a successor to my Lightning-APP2. Tested APP3, but neither sound quality nor in-ear feeling could convince me. So I found myself a set of USB-C APP2 (they’re slowly vanishing from the market - get one now, if you’re interested, folks), which will easily tide me over for minimum 1-2 years.

Will watch the market occasionally, if and when Apple might release APP4 (or APP3 „high-end“, as some rumor had it) and how reviews and user experience will be. Then I can evaluate again, but without hurry.

I’m aware of the slightly inferior ANC on the 2‘s, but accepted that tradeoff for comfort and sound quality. The reported problem mentioned in this news only reconfirmed me in my decision.

I have the first gen and it's still an issue!
Apple have replaced my first gen pods 3 times due to this issue. It seems to be something that kicks in after a few months (for me). I only use mine when travelling on business, so maybe if I used them more often it might happen sooner? Very disappointing to read that this is still an issue.

We do have issues with AirPods gen 3 - battery problem solved, but sometimes sound virbations in bass levels and still problems in connection (always disconneted during a telephone conversation) - makes customer crazy

The best in connection with device and holding it are our old AirPod Gen 2

Consequences:
In future other brands or waiting till we read that all works properly

The problem with Apple Software is, that they disimprove there product unexpectedly even after longer period of proper function!

Also software disaster in iOS and more in macOS! Every update new BUGs...

Chaos at Apple

2nd gen’s wouldn’t feedback and squeal if i palmed them as i am walking to put them into their charger case - the 3rd gen’s do this always. i’m guessing it has to do with the extra sensors that i still don’t know why they’re there.

the health stuff? i see no benefit from heart rate from my ears unless its not activated yet due to lawsuits still pending.

transparency mode also feels more muted. which the 2’s don’t. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The 2nd gen transparency was boosted so the noise cancelling sounded more effective

I’m curious if this problem is similar to the one I have with the non-pro ANC model. I can’t use the ANC in certain circumstances, a great example being when using a weed whacker, because of the horrible sharp feedback I get in the AirPods. If the string hits a rock and makes a sudden snap sound I get an extremely irritating and loud crackle in my ears. It’s like the ANC heard the noise and tried to compensate but the timing was off. It quite literally hurts my brain.

A couple of tips before you take them back. One is that you don't have to have the same sized ear tips in both ears. I have XXS in my left ear and XS in my right ear. Two is to turn the stem towards the mouth. On the APP1 and APP2, the stems are generally straight down while with the APP3, you turn them so the stem is pointing towards your mouth. When I first tried the APP3, they hurt my ears, too. But after doing both of the above, the problems went away.

Yes what is this all about? I have Airpods 4 and they do the same thing sometimes when they are both in your palm, sounds like a bird chirping.

Wow - I have had every version of app's. I haven't experienced any of these issues. Makes me wonder how widespread vs intermittent it is. I hope it gets resolved tho, because it sucks when this kind of stuff happens.

Yes, please MacRumours, report on this issue. I find it gets overlooked way too much. Ive had 3 iPhone 17 pro/ pro max models, all with the same static noise when charging. Returned them all. There are multiple forums discussing this issue.

I was very excited when the APP3 launched, but haven't bought them yet because my APP2 are still going strong. Looks like I will be waiting longer. Already dealt with the static sound on my APP1 and got them replaced once under warranty. They are doing it a lot now when I use them as my backup buds. APP2 have never had any issues, super happy with them and if I had to replace them now I think I'd just get another set of the same. Hope Apple can figure out what's going on and fix it without gimping the ANC...

i had my APP3 set up as "hearing aids" when i first got them (first day) and would occasionally hear chirping or echo like sounds when there were in proximity to my hands or chair backs. My audiogram creates a lot of high frequency boosting in the playback. I turned off the hearing aid function and have not heard the chirping since.

Overall the APP3 are the best headphones i've used. Several times i've heard and felt bass response that made me think I actually had my desktop Klipsch speakers playing! I quickly paused the music as it was late at night and sound that loud would have woken everyone in the house! The spatial effect with the Dolby Atmos audio is just amazing- I've heard audio come into my left ear from beyond my office wall, it was quite confusing as no sound could have come from there!

I listened to the rereleased Wish You Were Here album the other day and with the Dolby Atmos heard it in an entirely different way. It was phenomenal! I had trouble believing it'd been 50 years since I listened to the original release of that album!

I was so close to returning them, but the recent update actually fixed the high pitch sound I was getting in my right ear. I'm happy with them now, have no issues now.

I still have the high pitch whistles even with the B30 firmware when I wear them a long time in a row...
