I finally caved and bought AirPod pro’s, after swearing I wouldn’t until they went lossless… I was just tired of traveling with large, over-the-ear wired headphones that took up so much space/additional weight in my bag.

Aside from the lossy compressed audio protocol used, I still find myself disappointed in the overall sound quality as well as other aspects of their general use. Guess I’m stuck with them now though.

Just make them in black and I’ll consider it.
yes I won’t buy anything white. Not in their current stem design. Black will look decent

To me, extreme lands with more negative connotations than positive ones.

EarPods would have been a better name tho.

Idk about Extreme, but if they come out with AirPods Ultra, I will have to get them. I don’t even care what they have, I just know they will be amazing. My Apple Watch Ultra 2 is great and my AirPods Pro 2 are also incredible and one of my favorite Apple products of all time.

I wouldn't have mind it. I feel with AirPods you could have done something a little different like that.

Man I was sooo ready for "Extreme" naming convention! If Apple doesn't name their next iPhone as iPhone Ultra or Extreme and charge $300 extra, I would refuse to buy in principle. I deserve better names and I am willing to pay $300 extra for it just to flaunt in front of my colleagues and to belittle them.

Interesting to hear about this. Not expecting to see a refresh to AirPods Pro soon.

The hierarchy of enhanced names is (from low to high): Plus, Pro, Max, Ultra. If they come out with an “Extreme”, it should be something greater than Ultra.

The "Pro" part makes zero sense in most of their product lineup. What kind of professional needs the AirPods Pro that a regular user has no use for? Although I don't like "extreme" either it would probably make better sense.

One issue with Extreme - from Apple side - is that you can't go beyond pricewise. Apple puts a lot of energy into segmentation (that's being polite), can't wait for "Should you buy an iPad Air Pro or an iPad Pro Air?"

iPhone Extra because $300 extra, great idea!

AirPods Not-Uncomfortable would have been a good name.

The cheap/nasty design of the basic ones should never have existed in products that cost over $4.

AirPods Extreme should still be a thing but it should be a model above the Pro with substantially better audio quality. Apple offering lossless wireless earbuds with quality that rivals kilobuck (~$1000) IEM rivals from Thieaudio, 64Audio, etc. would be a hit but it would have to be in the $500-$700 range. A good traditional IEM set can last a long time so the price is worth it, but once you add a battery suddenly you have something that has a quick decay rate.
Makes sense. They could even have you come into the Apple Store to get the custom ear moulded inserts just like those expensive IEMs do.
