I like innovation but things like this concern me. Depending on the scope of what the camera can do, it concerns me these will be worn in places where cameras should not be allowed and privacy should be followed strictly.

Apple's version will probably be limited in some way, but you can be sure the GoogleXRayBuds and MetaPervBuds will be coming shortly.

Exactly this. Someone trying to film people in a washroom is obvious with a cell phone. Not so with earbuds or glasses. They’re going to have pass laws to heavily regulate these types of products because it’s crazy the abuse that can and will be done with them.

Will be interesting in the teardowns and analysis what camera they are using the resolution, temporal and spatial, sensor size, etc Someone said above that it would be cool to look at a building and ask it about the building but will it have the details to do that?

And do you have to get in to ‘Crow mode’ and kind of tilt your head side on to get the picture info.

Also batt life will take a pounding. I already could do with all day(8+) hours but adding camera is gonna hammer that

The number of devices allegedly relying on the new Siri and currently sitting in the icebox is getting significant — and a bit worrying. We’re reaching the point where anything short of a genuinely groundbreaking AI assistant could spell trouble for many of them, much like what happened to the HomePod: a great product released too early for its own good.

Don't worry ...

NewSiri3.0™️ has finally cracked the code!

Why are companies obsessed with sticking cameras in devices that sidestep other people's desire to not be recorded and have their privacy invaded?

Before you use the excuse "There's camera's everywhere", those are primarily for security purposes. They're not being collected by some random person on the street. Google and Glassholes started this, and Meta carried the torch forward.

Lifelong apple user. I will never buy this garbage. People do not want to be constantly surveilled. I'm not hanging out with people who are constantly pointing a camera in my face. I'm not wearing airpods that are recording my surroundings. Garbage.

This is interesting: One gets the benefits of smart glasses without the downsides:
  • Not presenting yourself as "he might be filming" creep (intentionally no camera function)
  • No need to wear anything more (everyone is already used to airpods)
  • Always on AI access to ask anything
  • Not a one more deviceto carry, wear, charge (replaces your current airpods)
  • Closed ear design to avoid sharing what you hear
  • One can trust Apple not to beam everything to feed an ad network for everyone around you (Meta & Google glasses, not so much)
Will buy.
