I have to say, for the occasional thing I've ever wanted to ask it, it does ok.

Admittedly though, I'm not interested in conversations with AI nor asking it endlessly about everything around me in the real world.

Usually it's: "what time is the sunset in Boise" so I can plan my run

or "what's the score of the Oilers game"

That's about the extent of it for me. 🤷‍♂️

Today I am using Siri to "set a timer for 13 minutes" and then redoing it after Siri "set the timer for 30 minutes".

I would rather want to brainstorm for a new feature in a product I am building, have an agent create design document based on the conversation in GitHub, and ask Claude or ChatGPT to kick off implementing that. All while I am on a morning walk with the dog. Today I am doing some of that with ChatGPT voice mode, but it is still fragile.

With cameras, it would be handy to hear a whisper in my ear about who is the person I am bumping to at a conference (I am bad with names) and what LinkedIn says they're doing at the moment.

At grocery store, cross checking prices with for items I am purchasing would be nice. "Nod if you rather want to get that from Walmart for $8 less, delivered by tomorrow".

That sounds incredibly dystopian.

Lifelong apple user. I will never buy this garbage. People do not want to be constantly surveilled. I'm not hanging out with people who are constantly pointing a camera in my face. I'm not wearing airpods that are recording my surroundings. Garbage.

Umm you sound a lil hostile here…I feel if anyone’s to be trusted it’s Steve’s Apple…aren’t these camera like infrared and just used for health features not camera cameras? Didn’t read the article btw but I do remember hearing something g abt that..

This is interesting: One gets the benefits of smart glasses without the downsides:
  • Not presenting yourself as "he might be filming" creep (intentionally no camera function)
  • No need to wear anything more (everyone is already used to airpods)
  • Always on AI access to ask anything
  • Not a one more deviceto carry, wear, charge (replaces your current airpods)
  • Closed ear design to avoid sharing what you hear
  • One can trust Apple not to beam everything to feed an ad network for everyone around you (Meta & Google glasses, not so much)
Will buy.

Report back let us know what you think of em after a good week of use!

I care and will choose not to buy them.

I keep my MacBook and iPad cameras covered with blue masking tape all the time. To many reports of employees turning our cameras on and watching us.

You’re damaging your MacBook by doing that (at least if you close the laptop lid with the tape still on)

Apple came out and said a few yrs back how the camera was designed not to physically be able to work without the green camera light on to let you know it’s recording, they said the MacBook was designed with such precision that the small depth of the tape is enough to cause damage to the unit…
