AirPods battery life when in use has been quite good. The problem seems to be standby battery life. Have you noticed standby at all in your case?
No, my case drains 3%-4% over night. I haven't kept track of it in great detail, but today's the 3rd day since charging the case and I've used the AirPods for hours every day and keep them in the case. Current charge:

AirPods (after being charged from 45% earlier): 100%
Case: 38%

Not bad at all to me. Apple really shouldn't be having these consistency issues.

Nice. I have a similar experience when using the AirPods as well. It's actually pretty impressive how quickly they can charge up when in the case too. Such a good product in that regard.

But when I keep the same set aside and don't use them, they end up draining at the same rate as if I had been using them.

Let's assume someone is a real person, who uses Apple products and goes to the Comedy Store for humor and comes here for real information that is also helpful. With is in mind, let's look at these few posts.

So what? Who cares? What will you do with this information? And it really isn't helping me in any way, shape, or form.

Now here's a suggestion that really irritates me when I come here for help and useful information.

Another anecdote that is off topic and completely useless.

Terrific. How unfortunate for you. Not helpful at all. But I would suggest some cosmetic ear surgery for you that will take care of the problems. Vulcan ears don't have this issue. Just ask Spock.

So, coming here for useful information is clearly a waste of time. And the vast majority of the those "humorous" posts just aren't funny.
Then maybe go away forever?

These seem to have had issues even before they came out which tells me there was a lack of due diligence in all phases of its developement

How is this "off topic"? The poster spent $200 on a pair of earphones that are obviously suffering from some sort of battery/technical issue which is what this article is about.

They started selling them before they were ready just to say they were available for Christmas and to capitalize on the suckers who would buy them even though they weren't ready for prime-time.

Like several products lately from Apple, I'm glad I waited. Never used to wait buying an Apple product when they were released. It's just wise to wait on purchasing Apple products now. Sad state of affairs.

Mate, you shouldn't waste your time. It is unfortunate but most information is vitriol towards Apple and Timmy. I say just read, get angry and laugh at the hate. Makes my morning turds much easier to exorcise.

Think we can all tell what the L is for

How do you plan on inserting the Airpods in the charging case with the silicone tips intact? They likely wouldn't seat properly and you would have to remove the tips every time to charge them. Seems cumbersome.
I really like them. I might have to take them off each time. I'm sure some company will figure out a solution eventually. Seeing how the AirPods seem to just have positive/negative charging terminals on the bottom (from what I can tell), perhaps a third party charger could be developed, or maybe magnetic power extensions that can be slotted down into the holes. Only issue is you couldn't close them in there, but you could charge them with the lid open. I understand fully that none of this is ideal, but it's a first world problem that doesn't bother me too much vs. having magical tiny wireless earbuds that otherwise seamlessly integrate.

For now I've learned to sense when they're getting loose and just shove them back in so they fall out less now. It's annoying but not the end of the world. I'm not a kid so I don't wear them out walking around because I'm not that addicted to music (plus I like listening to birds and such around campus when I'm getting some fresh air) and I've got Bluetooth in my car with a nice system so I don't need to use them for anything beyond my desk and exercise or when mowing.

I've also wondered—you know how ear cartilage is fairly malleable? I wonder if minor cosmetic surgery could fix the issue. Seems like it would be fairly simple and inexpensive to bump up my lower ridge to hold them in place better. Sounds extreme but in practice nobody would notice a visual change. For now I'm going to hope for an ultra-thin casing that has more grip. I've seen some ridiculously thin iPhone cases and maybe that would be enough to help wedge them in there with a textured, grippy surface material. We'll see. I've been down on Apple lately, but this is seriously the best product they've released in years. I'm impressed and can't get too mad because my ears are a little different inside.

Maybe it's vitriol towards the mediocre & substandard products that Apple has produced in the last few years from long-time Apple customers who remember that Apple used to mean quality & not just chasing numbers from a bean-counting CEO

My partner's parents got her a pair of these for Christmas. No battery issue like this, but they do fall out a little too often for her liking. I've warmed to them too but shes adamant on replacing them with a pair of Powerbeats.

Make sure you turn off Bluetooth after using them. The case constantly looks for a signal which drains the battery. It can't do that if there's nothing to connect to.

I would rather have this issue than what happend to my pair of AirPods. Right AirPod stoped working seconds after the unboxing. Replacement on way so let's hope I'll get more lucky this time
Yea true, after 2 days I had a similar issue, I think things were getting confused between my phone iPad and laptop, had to completely reset the connection and both pods started working again. When is your replacement suppose to be in?

This is not true (and is not helpful advice even if it were true as many use Bluetooth on their iPhones for other functions).

The case is actually dumb and it's only the AirPods that provide any connection. When the case is closed the Bluetooth radio stops and no longer communicates with the iPhone.

@Lihp8270 tested this in the longer thread (the item in the middle is the AirPods, you can see the connection stops a few seconds after the case closed):

Mine are flawless except for the fact that they fall out of my ears every 30 minutes, even when I'm sitting still at my desk.

Same here. They are excellent except for their propensity to creep out of my ears and then pop out no matter how mildly I'm behaving.

Except for this disappointment that will lead to their return, I think they are quite good.

And then you go and make a post that contributes nothing. And repeat the very complaints you criticize. That's not so bad except that you're already complaining about it. Then you go further and start berating people.

New to the internet? I wouldn't stress over something that will never improve.

I might have found a fix!!!!

After multiple unpairing and pairing sessions without any success (Battery drained 100% in 38h) and even restoring my iPhone, I connected the AirPods to my Girlfriend's iPhone and even after some minutes of listening and checking the Battery multiple times, the case is still at 100%, even with these small charges of the AirPods. Previously, it drained at least 7%. Now, 3h later without use it is still at 100%. So it might an issue be the Bluetooth Controller on the iPhone. There are multiple guides on the internet on how to reset it.

It's only a matter of time until we discover the issue that led to Tim Cook delaying the release of these wireless earphones.

Just my opinion: I thinks it's all about QC now. Theses are very small, very technical devices. They are being assembled by a very hard working, yet challenged workforce. I want to know how many per 100 units passes QC at the factory.

Being a Hardware Engineer at Apple would not be a desire of mine in 2017. :apple:

did anyone else notice that settings > music > volume limit
no longer works?

Gosh don't say that. That's what I'm afraid of, I just ordered mine Thursday and have 6 weeks to wait.
I wouldn't worry about it too much, you can always return them if they're not a good fit. FWIW, I was worried about the same thing - the wired ones never stayed in long enough for me and I thought it was their shape/size/weight.

So it was a pleasant surprise when I got the airpods last week and honestly I have not been able to get them to fall out no matter what I do - and it's not for lack of trying. Today I had my second workout with them and no matter the position (laying flat, face down or up etc..) I could not get them to fall out. For me it seems the wire (weight of it or any tugging) was causing the old ones to fall out, going wireless completely solved the issue in my case.

The sound is good (noticeably better than the wired pods) and I love the case and charging mechanism. Only thing I wish was better is the tap response - at least on mine they require a rather firm double-tap to respond and even then it's a hit or miss. And using siri for music control and volume is not the most elegant solution.

This may pain you to realize, but you don't get to decide what threads are about. The posts you quoted while outraged are entirely consistent with other narratives that tie together months and years of content on this website. If you're looking for tech support posts, try Apple's own forums. Otherwise calm down and lay off.
