Now available via Software Update:
AirPort Card Update 2004-08-31 improves reliability in mixed 802.11b and 802.11g environments and is recommended for all customers with AirPort-capable computers running AirPort 3.4 and later, including AirPort 4.0.

After this update, the AirPort Driver and AirPort Extreme Driver will each be upgraded to version 3.4.3.

Is this for AirPort Extreme? or just regual AirPort? Did it require a restart?

Maybet this has something to do with a new Wi-Fi thingy Apple has, but I doubt it, it's probbably just for the new iMacs.

Hey, I wrote on another thread that NetNewsWire killed my Internet connection everytime it downloaded new headlines...

it doesn't happen anymore... fix or coincedence?

Doh--thought I'd get first post

Oh well,

how is that Apple updates are made available through Windows Update?

MS Word certainly doesn't get patched through OS X's software update...well no 3rd party app does.

i hope this update also fixes the dropped connections i've been getting ever since updating to 3.4 a few months ago. very annoying to have my network connection disappear completely and have to fiddle around and wait for it to come back (with no apparent reason for the disconnection or reconnection). i never had that problem until i installed 3.4.

Odd, because it has no real description, just support links. And the fact that it isn't, by default, required, is interesting. But I upgrade compulsevly, and I was one of those luckey few who downloaded 10.2.5 (I think) that wreaked havoc with networking connections. Hehe. Of cource, my Windoze computer has that same problem and its called "Windoze."
Actually, that isn't fair to my PC. It is a great platform to run Basilisk II on. Hullo to System 7.5.5!

Wow, I got off topic on that one. Watch out for my next thread, due to appear somewhere closer to midnight.

Really? I could have sworn my Proteus (IM client) update came in through Software Update ... I told Proteus to check for updates and it pulled up Software Update w/an update ...

I could be wrong.

Is it just me, or is the file not available for download anymore? The page is there, but the link to the disk image is bad.

I really want to update...my wifi connection cuts out for no reason at least once a day. (Ever since I switched it to mixed mode, now that I think about it)

Works fine for me...Just wondering what the heck it did.

Nice to get some news like this after a day full of iMac jargon.

Now the real question...Where's that iPod Mini update?

Possible Reason

A while back I filed a bug about how with some cards the system will crash slowly during network activity. It would first drop the connection, then hang SystemUIServer making it nearly impossible to kill -9, then hang the finder, dock, and all other apps as well, forcing a hard reset with no crash messages whatsoever. All of this on a fresh install of Panther both patched and unpatched, after Airport was updated to 3.3 or greater.

Hope this fixed it. I'll make a new partition with panther tonight and see if it does. Here's crossing my fingers.

Am I crazy??

After I did the Airport update install, my wireless went on the fritz! I can't connect to anything! I finally got it to connect to my wireless network again... but it's painfully slow... it took me 30 seconds to get on AIM and Mail thought I was offline!!!

Is anyone else having any problems????

Does anyone of you here use the airport card on a PC? This is a first time I know that the airport card is compatible with PC and hence the windows version?
Pardon my ignorance

Weird. No problem here at all.

Airport cards are for Mac only. It is refering to the fact that you might be using an Airport card on a "PC/Windows Network."

So far so good . . . I can't tell any difference either, but since the connection isn't broken, I'll consider that a decent update.

Given your experience, and the recent virex issue, I think I'll give this a few days to shake out...aint broken don't fix it...

Actually, it's probably for Wintel users who have a Airport Base Station. It would seem odd to use a wintel computer to update a airport card that is physically located inside a mac.
