Annoying Coincidence

Coincidently, just after I installed the AirPort update, my ISP (roadrunner) was having DNS issues. After banging my head for 30 minutes, I figured out it was the network and not my PB. Everything worked great when I woke up this morning.
/sigh

It usually works that a way, doesn't it?

Fixed File Sharing

The update fixed file sharing using Macs with Airport Cards to wired computers using NetGear Routers. Before I could connect to the file sharing server before, but navigation of the Hard-Drive and File Transfer speed were very slow. With the update it is very fast and works great. Fixed the problem of both my 667Mhz TiBook and 700Mhz 14" iBook sharing to a wired G4 tower. I'm not noticing any better range then before or signal strength, but overall a great update.

What virex issue?

I keep getting, "There was an error joining the network." WTF?!?!?!?!?

I was having a similar problem after upgrading to 10.3.5, I couldn't connect to my base station at all. and kept getting that same error. I finally figured out that if I run the base station in b/g mode it works fine. But if I put it in "g - only" mode it will not let me connect to it anymore. I am not sure why, since I have an airport extreme card that connects at 54 all the time.

Anyway I hope this helps some.

Please ignore my previous post of houwdy doody. I found that I could not connect to AIM via iChat untill I shut down and restarted the computer. Drove me crazy to no end. Also messed up the connection to the Wi-Fi networked printer that my family shares.

A side note, if anyone can find the correct spelling of "houwdy doody" please tell me. Thanks. :D

????

Where are you all getting this update from?
There is nothing in my software update and the only thing I can find on the Apple website is 4.0.1 which appears to be Airport Express specific.
Am I missing something?

What version are you all updating to?

it was on the software update. i think the update is not available for jaguar users - what version do you use? i have 10.3.4 currently as the 10.3.5 is not yet qualified for protools by digidesign.

I'm running 10.3.5 on a G3 iBook.
Could this be because I only have an Airport card rather than Airport Extreme?
Hmmm I bet that's the answer.
Anybody with an Airport card got the update?

Thanks for the link.
It looks like Apple have finaly got around to updating the Airport Extreme page as the link is now on there as well.
Unless of course I was being blind last night when I was looking.

I had the same problem of not being able to find it. It finaly showed up in my software uptade at about 11:30 last night. More than a day after everyone else got it. Oh well.

I have the same setup, yet the update appeared instantly in my Software Update.

I have the standard Airport card.

I updated and so far so good. I read that some of you guys have better signals. Are you really getting a better signal, or is this just a software thing? Like, when they fixed the iPod battery bar to be more correct?

All I've really noticed is that my signal strength returned to where it was before the Airport Express update that came out last week. It's possible, of course, that this is TOTALLY unrelated, but that's the only thing I've noticed since installing.

I bit the bullet and updated yesterday and so far no problems. Even with my new apple BT keyboard between the PB and the AX I still get 4 bars.

Sometimes the strength used to drop to just 2 bars but not for very long since the update - fingers crossed

Definately worth getting

This update is great!! I have a Konfabulator widget that tells me the Airport Extreme strength. When upstairs in my place I could only get around 65 - 70 percent. Now I am getting 90% reception.
