Actually, law guy, you still need the Airport Express Setup Assistant if you want to configure multiple Airport Express units. At least, there is no way that I can figure out to do it otherwise.

I have the same problem that skyton has. I absolutely cannot get ahold of the Airport Express Setup Assistant script. It isn't in the Airport software, wasn't included in the CD that came along with either of my two Express units, and apparently cannot be downloaded from anywhere on the web. I am desperately hoping that someone will email me a copy of the silly thing so that I can get my second Express working.

Any kind souls out there willing to zip it up and send a copy to me, I'd really appreciate it! (spambait@seraphine.us)

Sent. :)

For the record, it's an Airport Set Up Assistant that you need, not an Express Set Up Assistant. As the name suggests, this'll help set them up but then to make further changes you'll need to use the Airport Admin Utility.

You mean the Setup Assistant? I need that!!

Well, if you can send it over this way (spambait@seraphine.us) too, I'd certainly appreciate it.

I thought I already did.

You PMed me. :)

Never got it. Maybe my spam filter ate it? Try chip@trdlnk.com, that's my work address. (Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I'm fairly certain that I need the Airport Express Setup Assistant for doing multiples. The Airport Setup Assistant lets me configure the base station, and the Admin Utility will let me get a single Express unit working, but from the googling I've done it appears that to configure multiple Express units you need the Airport Express Setup Assistant. (I've certainly tried like crazy using both the Admin Utility and the regular Airport Setup Assistant and I can't get more than one working.)

Okay, I tried again. I've just been sending the regular AirPort Set Up Assistant because to the best of my knowledge, there's no such thing as an Express Set Up Assistant despite it being referred to in the manual. I've got two Expresses which have both been set up with this with almost no problems so it really should be fine. For any further modifications and to configure multiple base stations, use the AirPort Admin Utility. If you don't have this, give me a yell. :)

Good luck.

whenever i go through my airport software it doesnt recognize it . is this because i have an airport extreme, the booklet with my airport talks about the airport setup assistant?

i dont know what to do im just confused

Okay, well the software I linked to is universal. It will work with normal AirPort, Express and Extreme base stations. However, since yours is a second hand unit, it has probably already been set up.

Did your friend give you any passwords? Can you get some from him?

If you can, use the AirPort Admin Utility to change the settings. If not, you'll have to do a hard reset to clear the AirPort's firmware. Now, do you have an Express (small box) or an Extreme (UFO-shape)?

Resetting the Express.

Resetting the Extreme.

Once the AirPort is reset, your AirPort Setup Assistant should be able to recognise it, it will work like new. :)

i have the extreme already using it for my home network, thats been set up for two or three years, i just was given the express, and cant get it to work
