agentkow said:Okay, 2 stupid questions here...
1) When you are playing music through AirTunes, does the sound still come out through the host computer's speakers?
2) If i'm sitting in a room with my Airport equipped Powerbook and the Airport Express plugged into the wall and a stereo, but there is no wireless or wired network anywhere around, can I still stream music to the Express? eg. Do you need a network to do it?
Thanks in advance...

I had a coworker (with a Win2k machine no less), stream audio over the wired network (not wirelessly mind you), to the Airport Express. Worked flawlessly. Sounds great. I can even stream music from other people's computers to the Airport Extreme, from MY copy of iTunes! This is just amazing!
Sabbath said:Arrgghhhh mine still hasn't shipped, and its 5:30pm over here now. If its not shipped by 9am tomorrow morning, someone at Apple is going to get an angry phonecall. Infact I know who it is the same person who always answers my edu orders in a really moody non helpful manner, Mary! Actually I may enjoy that call![]()

"Dear Apple Store Customer,
Thank you for ordering the new Airport Express!
We are very excited about the response to this great new product!
Unfortunately we cannot meet the previously estimated ship date for this
product and we now expect to ship your order by July 30th, 2004."

I wonder what the scientific explanation for this effect is? My theory is that Apple mails their products short distances in random directions. When they arrive, they are again mailed for short distances in random directions. Therefore, they tend to stay close to Cupertino, graduallly spreading out from that point. Mathematically, they could reach a distant point in a series of straight hops, but the odds get slimmer and slimmer as distance increases.red_wedge said:Ah, but you are forgetting the Atlantic Effect - which is of course that any Apple product already shipping in the US will only begin to ship in Europe several weeks later. This is because of the time difference. The further you are away from galactic central point (Cupertino) the longer (exponentially) it will take to receive goods. In the UK you should receive your Airport Express around two weeks late. At my location (Finland) I can expect to receive mine sometime in September. Be thankful you don't live in the Middle East, however, as the compound effect of distance multiplied by different calendar means they will either receive it in April, 2047, or that they already received it 400 years ago and by now it doesn't work anymore and they forgot to also order Apple Pro Care. Bummer.

It seems like Apple has f*cked all its European customers again. I'm not a happy customer right now, even if Apple in the mail claims that "Your business is very important to us, and we apologise for any inconvenience
that this change may cause." Apology NOT accepted, Apple!![]()
