I cant offer a solution to the problem but 7.4.1 completely bricked my 2 month old 500gb TC. During the update all whent good till the end and it failed to restart. It failed to do a hard reset or broadcast a signal the light was just solid amber. Hooking it up through an ethernet cable gave me internet but nothing else. Long story short I spoke with apple and did the usual and they offered to replace it(which I did through the :apple: store at King of Prussia mall) Both the Genius Bar and Apples phone support told me it was hardware failure which I think is just a little to coincidental since I use my TC alot and it just so happened to fail during the update.

This was my first experience with getting something replaced through Apple and I give them an A+ on customer service especially the :apple: store at the King of Prussia mall. After telling me they didn't have a TC to give me and they would have to order one I told them that it would be hard for me to come back as I'm at college and do not have a car and told them that I tried to have it replaced through mail and that they were unable to enter my schools zip code(19383-8103) in the mailing system thus could not send me one. The guy helping me at the Genus Bar then replied with " A billion dollar company can't even send you something in the mail unbelievable Ill see what I can do" He came back proceeded to take a brand new TC off the shelf and opened it and gave it to me. Do they normally replace broken products with refurbed ones just wondering since at first they told me they didn't have one to give me?

^^
That's good to hear. Do you have AppleCare on your MacBook Pro? It would be odd that if someone lived with wireless and suddenly went back to wired connection.

Anyway, last year I ordered a BTO 3.06Ghz iMac online and it arrived with a faulty display. I quickly made an appointment with the Genius Bar at the local Apple Store. At first, he said they will send me a replacement since it's a BTO configuration. After a click here and there on his MBP, he went to the backroom and gave me a brand new iMac with RAM add-on also transfered my AppleCare agreement to the replaced iMac. I think Apple Support is getting better and better if it has the parts.

Wow, what a mess. All I did was try to hook up my Airport Express, to print wirelessly. Then I decided to hit OK with the firmware update when asked, though I hadn't in the whole time I've had my iMac. I get a whole bunch of networks in my list, other than the one I was using. I have no signal bars on the menu for airport. I can't use my laptop and connect to the net. Though luckily I can get it on the desktop. (via ethernet I think?)

I'm so not tech savvy. The one thing that sounded promising, I can't find. That was the reverting to previous firmware. There is no dropdown menu for that in Base Station under Manual Setup. All there is, is the name of it, the password, and time zone and such. plus a box to allow setup over WAN, which is unchecked. My wireless mode is off, though. But when I've tried other settings, it still doesn't work. I have no idea what to do next, other than call Apple tomorrow.

Sucks that I was thinking that not being able to print wirelessly was a problem, now I have a much bigger one :(

I had no problem reverting mine back tonight:

click manual
click the word: version next to what version it is
then it has a drop down menu and i selected the last version, and it went!!

(i on the other hand have not seen any problems with the newest version on my end?)

Mines still messed up. I've reverted back numerous times, no luck.

Latest thing I did was, change from 802.11n (5ghz mode) to 802.11a+n, and that seems to be working the longest so far. I'll update my post here "when it breaks".

I'm so tempted to just replace the router completely, its a pain in the but when it goes out. It is setup as a bridge at the moment, so my fios router still works 100% fine.

TC going to sleep?

Adding my issue to this thread because I think it might be a 7.4.1 issue.
Everything has been working fine for months. Have the latest upgrades of all software.
The last few nights, I have found the TC asleep. No broadcasting, no spinning HD, but a green light on.
A simple unplug, restart gets me going again. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've been all over the net and read alot about doing a hard reset (pushing button on back of AEBS and just reconfiguring the whole thing over again.

I'm really hesitant to do that because when I go to System prefererences and then to NETWORK I get this message,"your network settings have been changed by another application" and there is an OK to click on. When I click the OK it just keeps popping up. The only way to get out is to force quit.

so, how would I be able to do a hard reset and reconfigure the router if I can't even get into NETWORK?

I also cannot upload firmware through Airport Utility because I get an -5 error.

So, I can't seem to downgrade the Airport utility to 5.3.2 and the AEBS to 7.3.2, plus I'm afraid I'm forever locked out of ever being able to change anything in NETWORK.

I used to love Apple so much.

Does anyone knows, who had problems with the 7.4.1 update knows if the Airport Utility update from yesterday will fix this issue?

Before, I had major issues with the 7.4.1 update after the install and went back to the earlier firmware. I am afraid to go through that again...

Thanks!

Okay, no good news for Excel files (Office 2003) on a PC...it refuses to open! Back to firmware 7.3. again!

I tried updating again over the weekend, no dice. Same problem as before, had to go back to 7.3.2. Wireless would randomly disconnect. Also, both my MBP 2.53 and a first-gen MBAir 1.8 would not connect automatically to the WLAN after a reboot or waking up from sleep. You can connect manually but it gets annoying after a while if you're on a laptop.

Same experience here. I'm back to V7.3.2...:(

From the Airport Utility, right-click on the device and choose "Upload Firmware" then choose the version you want to load...

well that part worked, but i still cant get this thing to join my freaking network. I have a Cisco access point. im not even seeing MAC address of my AAE trying to join my existing network....

Sorry if you've already checked these but did you look that they have the same:

- Frequencies (AEBS can do 2.4GHz and 5GHz)
- Security settings (WEP, WPA, none, etc)
- Network names (if you're setting this manually on the client router)
- IP domain and netmask (again if your client router is not using DHCP)

My AEBS has had no problems talking to Linksys (now Cisco), Netgear and DLink as main routers.

yeah, all that stuff is correct. Mine is a cisco model 1100 AP, enterprise stuff, not linksys branded.
