Damn thing won't go away

Ok i have installed the update twice now and the damn thing keeps coming back in the SU

I know of two other people in the irc channel have the same prob just wondering if we are alone

any update is a good update! well atleast it gives us something to talk about, or rather how nothng appears to change!

FWIW, I have a Linksys B router at home that I've used with both an Airport card (TiPB) and Airport Extreme card (AlPB) and had no ill effects. I've only upgraded the firmware once in the past year.

All though I must say that I believe my over all connection speeds seems to have decreased a little with the AE on the faster PB... go figure. I first chalked it up to SBC slowing down with more local business, but now I think it might be something with my new set up.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a wireless G router, any suggestions?

apply to other 811g users?

am i also supposed to apply this update if two of the three access points in my house are 811g linksys wireless access points? (the third is a standard, first-gen airport base station) Or is it ONLY for apple airport extreme base stations?

i've never had any problem going from my home wireless connection to the wireless realms of atleast 5 places i often go to. anything to help from 2.4ghz phone interference is more than welcomed.

edit: proglife, you are a quicker man than i

To get AirPort 3.3.1

Wasn't in my software update for some reason

you had to have installed 3.3.

Since I am using a DLink 802.11b router and it works great, I have decided not to screw with any of the recent AirPort updates since they seem to be mostly for AirPort Extreme networks (and, I assume, an AirPort-based computer that deals with an AE base station.)

When I first bought my iBook and it didn't work with my Linksys wireless router I googled for days (well, Apple's tech support was not much help there) and didn't find any solution to my problem. Eventually the problem went away and I never knew how. This is the first time I see other people talking about resetting the router being the solution. So that must be what I did that fixed it. I really hope this update fixes the problem for good because Linksys routers are everywhere and my AE card would be useless if it didn't work with them without resetting the routers.

when i discovered the coffee shop had their router set to all defaults, i took the liberty of setting up their passwords and such for them. If i go there and cant get on the 'net, i just get into the router and drop/renew everybody and then it works great.

Engagebot, if you have access you might try changing the transmission rates on the linksys. I think setting it to 2 mb/s cleared my problems up. Just a thought...

Is this an AEBS only update?

I've got an Al Pb, with AE in it. I see the update in software update, but it's not automatically checked for update, so I would expect Apple doesn't consider it necessary for my system.

I just checked and my last AirPort software update was Jan 23 so presumably I'm on 3.3.0.

i've been getting hard lockups due to airport this week for the first time since installing 10.3, and i think it's because of the 3.3 update. If this 3.3.1 doesn't fix anything, anyone know what version of Airport extensions shipped w/ 10.3.2? I don't feel like doing a reinstall.

Thanks but I did. The update didn't show up on SU until a day after it was posted on the web.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've got one more bar of signal strength than I had before the update. And that's in the basement and across the house!

smellycheese

i couldnt find the update in my softwear up date but when you launch airport admin utility it promps you to upgrade, is this turnig into windowz and micro$oft?

its just a problem between linksys and AE, and i'm hoping one of these AE revisions fixes it, because i dont think linksys cares enough...

I can confirm that this is also a problem with my NetGear 802.11b and my powerbook 12". It works fine until I turn on my PC hardwired into the router, as soon as i do that, WHAM, the router needs to be reset. I think it might be possible that the people that are saying they don't have problems with this "reset" issue, may just be using wireless and no hard wired computers... just a thought though. I am praying for a solution to this problem, its rather annoying.

PS Yes, the firmware is upgraded on the router.
