$11 "leather" case from Amazon with AirPods Pro. A little bulky, but it gets the job done.

I have lost them numerous times in my house and it takes me a LONG time to find them. They only show where they last connected to the phone...like when they were used. The audio sound when in the case us barely audible when sitting right next to me, let alone if they are in the couch after falling out of my pocket.

All of that said…Find My sucks in the AirPods…so not redundant.
Also, AirPods have a very limited battery life compared to the AirTags. If the battery is dead, no Find My.

The irony is, the more bulk you add to the overall package (AirPods, case, key ring, AirTag, AirTag holder) the less likely you are to lose them. But I've done the same setup with mine. I've been super paranoid about losing them after I had a set fall out of my pocket in a parking lot. Never got that set back.

As for the Find My functionality or AirPods, I'm at my office and my AirPods are currently at home sitting right next to my iPad. Under devices it says the AirPods were last seen at 10:35PM last night, whereas the AirTag attached to them was last updated 2 minutes ago. I think Apple needs to integrate Find My into literally every product they sell other than cases and whatnot. If it has a battery it should have Find My.

I’d hope that every Apple device announced from now with Bluetooth can be part of the crowdsourced Find My network. If I’m not mistaken, offline Macbooks are, they don’t have or need a U1 for this.

Agreed and I would go further than just Apple devices. Auto makers should put FindMy chips into keys and transponders for cars. This would alleviate the need for a separate AirTag or similar device, and give the customer a way to find their key or transponder if it got lost.

Anyone put an AirTag on their AirPods or AirPods Pro? I’m thinking about how to attach one to my AirPods Pro, but I like having a smaller case on them. I’m considering one with a little loop on it so I can attach an AirTag. I misplace them from time to time and the AirTag will really help.

Any other ideas?

FOR SURE!!!

The MacBooks do work with WiFi and last location connected…but same thing, no actual tracking.
Not so - Macs can participate in the Find My network even when offline - in fact they were the first type of device announced to utilize that capability when it was introduced.

The article referenced below says pretty much exactly what I stated earlier. You can set your MacBook as lost/stolen, but you won’t be able to actually find it until it connects to the internet again.

Yes. You're right. That functionality is certainly not there. That's where the Airtag can provide value. Totally agree.
Yep. The built in find my on airpods is practically useless because it only works when they are connected to a device. At BEST you’ll know where you last left them. My son lost them once and while I knew where he dropped them roughly, I could never actually find them (in the case) because were not pingable. So I’ve added a tag to the case.

Lost mine, although it gives me the last used position, my iPhone will not connect when I try to get them to play a sound, so find my… is of no use. Have searched carefully but can’t find them. An AirTag would have probably solved this issue so my advice is yes an AirTag on AirPods especially pro is a good idea.
