"iPhones", as in "they have already made millions of them as opposed to just the one prototype", not as in "distinctly different models of iPhones". iPhone 4S for now.

He is a fool. I don't suffer fools easily and some fools, like Algore, are just smarmy. He is one of the most idiotic people I have ever seen. His sense of entitlement is sickening and he is one of the stupidest people I have ever seen. Ignorance can be cured with education, stupid cannot be fixed. He simply makes my skin crawl, I would feel like I needed a bath if he touched me... he is absoultely grotesque and the idea of doing business with a company he is involved with repulses me...
However, as I said before, the i-pad/i-phone are the only options if you want to do any sort of mobile music production. I have a DAW on my computer and a good interface for home recording but it would be nice to use a smart phone/tablet as a fun toy while sitting in traffic or a waiting room. Perhaps, now that Google owns Motorola, the XOOM will catch up... time will tell.

Al Gore really creeps me out.

Are you sure you aren't talking about Kerry?

...make it so easy for those around you to see your ignorance.

Provide one, just one, documented occurrence of his having said he invented the internet. You can't, because he didn't.

http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.asp

He did, in fact, co-sponsor the 1988 act that allowed DARPAnet to be expanded to universities in an organized manner, and the 1992 act that allowed commercial traffic to do the same.

Those who say he did otherwise are either incredibly and stubbornly misinformed, or maliciously and purposefully spreading misinformation.

And as a member of the Apple Board since 2003, he might just be aware of when products are in the pipeline.

Good thing I wasn't just retelling an old joke that has been told on the internet for at least 5+ years in various forms or you'd look a bit silly.

When the multimillionaire Nobel price winning former vice president and inventor of the Internet says it's true, it's gotta be true. Right? Right?

He should know all about the upcoming iPhone considering he invented it.

Are you taking pot shots at Al Gore because..

a) it's fun. (acceptable use)
b) you actually believe he said he invented the internet (ignorance is bliss)
c) you are trying to propagate that he said it even knowing that he didn't. (unacceptable use)

Lastly, are you suggesting that Apple erred in inviting him to be a member of the board?

It really does amaze me, a, that this is news that is parsed so finely. Apple assertions are read like tea leaves. Why? Because the lack of information flow makes us sit up and try to figure it out.

The other is the knee-jerk conservative foolishness that breaks out even among people you'd think would be more sophisticated that Sarah Palin et al. To state the truth: Al Gore won the 2000 election, and b, he's right about global warming. I guess the sight of him must make some people start screaming denials right at the top.

You're stupid.
I Dont Believe Anything Al Gore Say ... Enough Said!

You people are so ungrateful. Al Gore is trying to help us all out by stopping Manbearpig with the new Iphone 5. EVERYONE in this thread needs to band to gather and fight Manbearpig.

I'am Totally... Totally Cereal.

Ps Maybe IOS 5 will finally have some kind of Manbearpig warning system built in the IOS.

@vitzr that's not even mentioning that he has sea front property even though he is really worried that the sea will rise "dramatically". Also the fact of his home using way more energy than you're average American makes him such a huge hypocrite.

But ... but ... he buys carbon credits!

(from his own carbon credit trading company)

Wow, someone with a passing knowledge of the current tech market, predicts a new iPhone before the end of the year?

And this is front page news?

MacRumors, you haven't reached this month since the glass installation story a couple of weeks ago.

Stop the presses MacRumors, get ready to clear the front page...

I predict another new iPhone... wait for it... next year!!!

You heard it here first.

Feel free to use my prediction.

But you see, when you have to be socially visible, you have to emit carbon. That's how you publicize a cause. Only after we live in a carbon neutral world will this "Gore is a hypocrite" rant lose its attraction for the right-wing pussycats who get fascinated by sparkly things, but cannot think.

That sounds strangely familiar. Where have I heard that before? ...

Oh yeah,

"We had to destroy the village in order to save it."

Looks like Al Gore had an iPhone stored in that "lock box" he originally had slated to contain our social security.

Propaganda Sex Poodle sez iPhone soon? Must be true. Good thing he read the same rumors we read.

These comments made me lose some faith in humanity. Not that there's much left at this point, but still. Baseless ad hominem attacks? Check. Ignorance of scientific consensus? Check. Poor spelling, lack of grammar, paper-thin arguments, and an overuse of internet contractions? Check.

Discussion related to the actual article?

Anyone?

Heh. I think it is so freaking cool that AL GORE gives us Apple information :D

Honestly his presence on the board makes me happier with Apple, and more inclined to believe their environmental claims (which are at the back of my mind when I buy stuff...)

Why should I? Woud it change the way I feel about the moron? No... waste of time. Fact is, I was goingto buy 2 i-phones and and i-pad2... now I am going to buy a XOOM but I don't yet know what phones.

FWIW, I am entitled to an opinion and it does not have to be explained to you or anyone. I didn't come here to argue.. just to "hopefully" let Apple know that at least one customer is lost because of Gore. There seems to be no way to actually contact Apple corporate. Anyway, no big deal to me if you understand or not, though I expect that you do understand and just want to argue.

Not with me... I'm gone.

+1 Good Answer

I can't stand Gore. He's a hypocrite, authoritarian has-been politician hitching his star to a political cause to try to remain relevant in the world after he pathetically lost his bid to steal the 2000 election.

But that has no real bearing on Apple. So he's a board member, a lot of people are board members. I'm not going to boycott TreeHouse Foods because Michele Obama was a salaried board member and they still bragg about it.

BTW, hypocritically for Barack, since the company was a major Wal-Mart supplier while he was complaining about Wal-Mart to a union, saying he wouldn't shop at the anti-union store. She resigned soon afterwards when the hypocrisy became a little too obvious.

Interesting that for everything going on that conference, this is the only thing Gore says that gets any type of press. He could've done a better job of giving us details, though :p

From the photo, Al Gore clearly prefers the old matte-screen Cinema Displays to the new all-glossy ones. Very hypocritical. He uses the old matte Displays, but, as an Apple Director, does nothing when Apple foists all glossy on everyone else, irrespective of whether they want matte or not. If you want matte, you need to sign the petition at http://macmatte.wordpress.com
