Ha Ha, are you talking about the same Al Gore who once said "a Zebra can't change it's spots" while attacking Bush, (Zebra's don't have spots), or while campaigning made the comment that he had "trouble turning on a computer, let alone using one." Or saying $1 Trillion dollars was equivalant to a million billion dollars, or......... I could go on.

Sure they do (sometimes):

micro-analyzing is as bad as micro-managing

In short, flying in a private jet does more than FOUR TIMES the Carbon Emission Damage to the environment than flying a regular commercial jet.

So if you were worried about your quote-unquote "carbon footprint" on the environment, and if you are concerned about carbon neutrality, the last thing that you should be doing is flying on private jets.

On the other hand, if Al Gore flies someplace and gives a speech that convinces 8 people to telecommute to one meeting rather than fly - he's roughly cut the carbon emissions by a factor of two.

Net win.

Well, that was quite the vitriolic rant. Now, can you provide any rational information, the kind that is free of emotional content, as to why you disapprove of Al Gore and/or his policies?

Why should I? Woud it change the way I feel about the moron? No... waste of time. Fact is, I was goingto buy 2 i-phones and and i-pad2... now I am going to buy a XOOM but I don't yet know what phones.

FWIW, I am entitled to an opinion and it does not have to be explained to you or anyone. I didn't come here to argue.. just to "hopefully" let Apple know that at least one customer is lost because of Gore. There seems to be no way to actually contact Apple corporate. Anyway, no big deal to me if you understand or not, though I expect that you do understand and just want to argue.

Not with me... I'm gone.

I would talk in plural also, knowing there will be millions of new iPhones out of the facilities next month…

Slow news day maybe?

The guy has been in a valuable combat for years to make humanity better by reducing our gas emissions and because you now know he is on Apple’s board, you stop buying their products? Behavior failure much?

Why is this scam artist still allowed to stay on the Apple board?

What could possibly Gore contribute to Apple? Get rid of this bozo and replace him with someone less insane.

As an avid private pilot, let me reveal the hypocrisy practiced by Al Gore.

The vanquished vice president has led the charge towards carbon neutrality and has brought some of his Hollywood friends along with him. But there's more to the story. Something that Al Gore doesn't advertise. When it comes to carbon emissions, Al Gore has a dirty little secret.

Take for instance your typical commercial jet, a Boeing 737, well, it seats a maximum of 189 people, it burns 800 gallons of fuel per hour and emits 16,880 pounds of carbon dioxide per hour in the air.

Now take a Gulfstream 400, the very Jet that Al Gore uses on average of 18 times per year.

It's one of the more common brands of private jet. It seats a maximum of only 19 people, it burns 415 gallons of fuel an hour and emits 8,785 pounds of carbon dioxide per hour.

That means per passenger a Boeing 737 emits 89 pounds of carbon dioxide an hour while Gulfstream and similar private jets emit 462 pounds of carbon dioxide per passenger per hour.

Yeah Al is really worried alright...

Typical ad hominem argumentation. Just because Al Gore himself may be a hypocrite, that does not negate the validity of his arguments and statements. People should focus on the substance of the argument, not the person who brings it. It’s a shame that many people cannot see through this and base their opinion on Al Gore’s – admittedly despicable – personal choices.

And to think that many people actually still believe in this Climate Change hoax by Al Gore and the fake "green movement", shows how ridiculous this human race is. Maybe we don´t really deserve to survive, ´cause people are so stupid and so easily swayed by mainstream propaganda.

Glad there´s also some sane people left and many awakening...

Your posting, like so many of your little brothers and sisters, is clinically insane. Try reading science instead of political propaganda.

Actually, his great amount of travel was to tour the world speaking at lectures. Of course, a lot of that travel was avoided when the documentary was made.

But you see, when you have to be socially visible, you have to emit carbon. That's how you publicize a cause. Only after we live in a carbon neutral world will this "Gore is a hypocrite" rant lose its attraction for the right-wing pussycats who get fascinated by sparkly things, but cannot think.

He is a fool. I don't suffer fools easily and some fools, like Algore, are just smarmy. He is one of the most idiotic people I have ever seen. His sense of entitlement is sickening and he is one of the stupidest people I have ever seen. Ignorance can be cured with education, stupid cannot be fixed. He simply makes my skin crawl, I would feel like I needed a bath if he touched me... he is absoultely grotesque and the idea of doing business with a company he is involved with repulses me...
However, as I said before, the i-pad/i-phone are the only options if you want to do any sort of mobile music production. I have a DAW on my computer and a good interface for home recording but it would be nice to use a smart phone/tablet as a fun toy while sitting in traffic or a waiting room. Perhaps, now that Google owns Motorola, the XOOM will catch up... time will tell.

Al Gore really creeps me out.

Julien

Completely irrational. Never a word of rational complaint.

It seems to me that Al may have unwittingly spilled the beans. Maybe Apple is bawling him out right now. :)

I think you are a perfect example of a person swayed by propaganda. I didn't realize a hoax could be supported by 97-98% of its respective scientific community. Why let facts get in the way of a good reason to hate Al Gore?

Alas, the point is Al Gore serves on Apple's board and mentioned an upcoming product release. The question is whether it was based on direct information or just anticipation. If it is the former, then shame on Al Gore for sharing company secrets. If it is the latter, the shame on Al Gore for not realizing his position would lead people to assume the former.

So, no rational reasons then?

So, it's not really for your music then?

re al gore

dont know much about him

except for his claim he helped invent the internet ?

except for his claim he helped invent the internet ?

Which, as you've phrased it, is somewhat true - although usually it's taken completely out of context.

If you'd like to know more about Al Gore's very important contributions that helped create the "Internet", start by reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Gore_and_information_technology and follow the many links.

Note that "create" and "invent" are very, very different concepts. Al Gore didn't write a line of code, but his vision was fundamental in creating the Internet that we now enjoy.

I'm worried that when Al Gore says, "iPhones," it's like when George Bush said, "internets."

on topic?

To those who have attempted to make light of this too-oft-serious thread: bravo.

To those who are debating Al Gore "inventing" the internet: the media pundits called from the year 2000 -- they want their talking point back.

To those who actually care about the topic:
Isn't Al Gore's pseudo-confirmation of "new iPhones" in Oct superfluous at this point? Isn't is safe to say at this point that there's going to be SOMETHING new in the iPhone world in Oct, 2011 (I'm really asking)? And I'm setting aside the fact that it's basically guaranteed that Apple is always working on their products, are very likely to update them regularly, and are very likely for the updates of their most popular products to occur on a somewhat predictable (-within-a-4-to-6-month-range) cycle?

And can't we agree that we're all just ****ing excited for a new iPhone!?? I know I am :D

There you go. No more confusion about the name of the next iPhones (4S, etc)

There will be two models: IPhone 5 °F and a slightly lower specced iPhone 4 °C :p
