It's reportedly due out Feb 2013. Anyone looking forward to this? I'm most excited about the prospect of some good coop and excellent Aliens. But I wonder if there will be a demo. I hate plunking down $60 for a dud. :):)

Preorder? Play 4 of the movie characters- Hicks, Hudson, Apone, and Drake.

I am interested in the Wii U version simply because of the screen being your scanner, that sounds really neat. However I'll buy whichever version is the best. Quite enjoyed the Alien V Predator game, but too much predator for my liking :)

I'm looking forward to it but I won't hold my breath. I loved the old PC AvP games but the newer AvP that came out a couple of years ago was a let down.

I'm gonna be waiting for reviews before I rush out and get it,I've been let down by the last few aliens games. But it looks amazing tho

Ok just read the Eurogamer article and I can't believe there is no option for a female main character either solo or multiplayer given the star of the matriarchal series has alway been women on both sides...

Ripley = woman
Queen = alien

I just assumed there would naturally be a choice to play as a woman.

I loved the first AvP game. I remember being so tense my shoulders hurt and then that creature leaping down the hall towards me, whoa... :) I want another good game, I'd really like to play any of the 4 special characters rewarded for pre-order, but that also pisses me off. I'm not going to buy a game sight unseen based on this carrot.

I know what you mean. The last one they got right was AvP 2 in 2001 (though I didn't care too much for Primal Hunt). The suspense in that game was film quality and they got it right all the way. The new one from a couple years ago was all about blood and gore, bad storyline, etc, etc.

That sounds interesting, a little bit unfair  On the Xbox/PC/PS3 versions you have to put your weapon away to get the scanner out.

The Feb2013 PCGamer profiled Aliens: Colonial Marines.

In their words: heartbreaking instead of chest bursting... :(

It's got outstanding graphics. The authors main gripe, it's too easy. The A.I. is weak. However it is reported to have offline 2 player coop. Always a good thing! :)

The first Aliens game I played... my shoulders ached with tension. The first alien came flying down the ceiling of a dark hallway and I all most crapped myself. Thank goodness for a smart gun! ;)

I'm hoping this will be good, but In all honesty im actually expecting a 6/10 style game.

I have read from previews the Aliens movement is actually ropey, so I'm not expecting much.

NOOOOOO!

I hope this isn't true! How can they ruin this?

I still remember my first AvP game (it was on the Atari Jaguar, btw ;))

There I was, about midnight, inching my way down a corridor and out of the middle of flipping *nowhere* came this voice in a hoarse whisper:

"Anytime...."

Yep, just about crapped in my pants too!

They have to be careful with this game...they can't give the kiddie's a generic FPS with aliens, predators, space marines; it has to have more tension than shooting, imo.

Maybe their expectations were just too high?

I quite enjoyed the last alien v predator game so as long as its better than that.

But yeah the 2001 AVP was great, but like I say the previews seem to think the alien movement isn't as fluid as that game, which considering the age difference is disappointing.

This is the U game that I've been looking forward to the most, ever since it was announced. I'll be rather disappointed if it turns out to be less than brilliant. Considering the source material they have to work with, and that this is supposed to be a sequel to one of the greatest films ever, I'd rather it was delayed than rushed.

Please don't mess this up Sega/Gearbox, I really want that Powerloader model!

I remember playing the Jaguar AvP round my mate's many a year ago. They certainly had the right mood going for it, it just felt a little empty. Althouh the award for best Aliens game still goes to the side scrolling Aliens vs Predator arcade game on CPS2 hardware.

Although I liked AVP (2001) solo, I thought it's multiplayer mode sucked... :)

LOL did it have a multiplayer ? I so rarely ever play multiplayer in any game, and probably my memory of AVP is probably far more favorable than reality deserves in comparison with games today.

Yeah it seems a natural fit for Wii U. Just keep our fingers crossed.

My main reason for a Wii U - it was my reason for getting a Jaguar... ;)

Using the screen as the PDA like in the movies to locate aliens looks awesome...

I'm not good at these modern games, so easy is good.

Yeah, I was going to say, if the kids liked the 2001 version, they should check out the 1994 version:p

As far is it "feeling empty" (the Jaguar version), the premise of the game was that you had been in "cryogenic sleep" for several months as punishment for striking an officer, and when your sentence is up and you are automatically woken up, you awake to find everyone dead...

I'm guessing the premise fit with the meager graphics abilities of the machines of that era ;) but the overall mood, tension, and action was right.

It definitely was *not* a "Doom"-clone with aliens & predators, it was kind of its own genre (which never seemed to take off, until the Resident Evil franchise). In fact, comparing it to Resident Evil isn't that bad a comparison, maybe more a cross between Resident Evil and Doom, with the Jaguar AvP leaning more toward the RE side.

Vasquez- Jenette Goldstein. She seems to be one of those actors who had her moment in the sun and then faded from the movies. Her IMDB filmography indicates she is still working, but I only remember seeing her in one other movie, Terminator 2 where she played John Conner's step Mom. Aliens has to be her best role... I looked for a picture of her with her boot on an alien head shooting it with her 45, but could not find it. :(

(censored)
Vasquez: Look, man. I only need to know one thing: where they are.
Drake: Go, Vasquez. Kick ass.
Vasquez: Anytime, anywhere, man!
Hudson: Right, right. Somebody said "alien" she thought they said "illegal alien" and signed up!
Vasquez: Frack you, man!
Hudson: Anytime, anywhere.

Some of my favorite actors/actresses are like her - they just take spots here and there. Balance of work/family/life. She seems to be in Theater (see full bio) and great shows such as "24". Hopefully she's getting residuals... ;)

I've been watching the first few unofficial reviews of the game on YouTube as the street date was broken in Australia..... and it's not looking good. It also looks like the magazine gamesTM here in the UK are giving it a mighty 4/10  The mainstream press embargo lifts tomorrow upon the game's release... rather suspiciously.

I'm a little disappointed, but I was sort of expecting this. After watching the videos on YouTube some parts look terrible. NPCs seem to sort of glide along whist walking, it's most noticable when they're going up stairs. There's complaints of shockingly low resolution textures, NPCs walking through each other, aliens disappearing into walls.... the list goes on.

Overall it's nowhere near the quality it should be considering the development time and the resources available. It may offer a huge amount of fan-service, but that doesn't mean it's a good game.

I'll just sit patiently and wait for Lego City: Undercover.....
