I find this very hilarious & completely predictable.

Hilarious? Yes, before I joined this forum I browsed it regularly. When the topic of a smaller iPad came up, there was literally an avalance of naysayers. Thousands of posts swearing it would never happen, and how useless one would be.

Now we see a completely different picture. I love to be entertained by the Apple communities predictable hypocrisy :)
Here's the sad thing about the Apple community hypocrisy. The people who feel they are Apple's biggest supporters think they are doing a service to Apple by regurgitating Steve Jobs quotes and taking an aggressive stance against all negativity, but by shutting down discussions then they are going entirely against the "Think Different" mentality that this company was built on.

Technology changes so fast so it's always surprising to see people who consider themselves "Technology Fans" to ever declare that something is perfect just the way it is because it only takes a few short months for them to be proven wrong. (3.5" iPhones. The requirement of Retina. Giant Bezels. Smaller iPads. Etc)

The biggest thing I take from it is that price does not seem to stop people from ordering it like I read in so many finance articles.

Launch day Mini's are selling on eBay for $400+ with shipping. I watched an auction for a 16 GB white mini sell for $425 with $10 shipping, which more than an iPad 2.

So it appears there are plenty of people is simply want a smaller iPad... compared to just wanting a cheaper one.

Excellent post. Your points are spot on.

Even at $425, the profit margin is dismal. eBay is the one making the most $$$.

Take away the 9% ebay fee, 2.9% + 30 cents paypal fee, and shipping cost (maybe add insurance).

on $329, where I live, 13% tax + recycle fee brings it to over $372. Even at $425 + $10 shipping it is still a money losing sale :)

just FYI.

For sure. I wouldn't sell it for that. But I was saying people are willing to buy it at that price. I would sell it on Amazon if anything, 8% fee on electronics. Only draw back is waiting for your funds to deposit, which is done bi-monthly by amazon.

That is a huge tax percentage btw. I pre-ordered it from Apple and it cost like $344 ish... but that is because it is an online order.

And i am not one of them. Do you realize that the naysayers might not be here? And who posted about mini are not naysayer in the first place?
