I was wondering the same thing. i guess the processing is too high
It has to take images from more than one camera at the same time. To be clear, this won’t be perfect, but since the iPhone has limited resolution anyway, it will probably be quite effective for most scenes.

It seems to me that this year the only difference on the 2 pro models will be just the battery and screen size...If there no other differences many people will choose the 13 pro for its much smaller size...

So the mini is now on par with last year’s 6.1” 12 (just as the 12 mini was better than the Xs) but I’m sure people will move the goal posts yet again and say the mini’s battery life is still a dealbreaker, somehow.

Others have in a pandemic. Why cant Apple? I don't think Tim Cook can see the reality of the length of time that Mask Mandates will continue from his Ivory Tower honestly.
Others who? I believe apple hadn’t added touch is under glass us because it doesn’t function as apple wants it to. They don’t want a half assed implementation in spite of the hyperbole posted on MR.

No. That's just not how it works. It will always search for cellular service if it is roaming or in a no service situation. If you don't want it to, you would need to engage Airplane Mode.
What?

settings, cellular doable roaming.
mis this specific to FaceTime video calls intimated over iMessage or initiated from a contact? Has your iMessage even registered yet when you were in coverage?

I suppose because you know what it takes to make a truly great film? Some truly horrific films have been made with some of the highest quality cameras. It's how you use the tools, not the tools themselves that matter.
I'm just messing around! And I agree on your last statement for sure 🙂

So it looks like the iPhone 13 Pro will have similar battery life to my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Nice. That combined with the iPhone 13 Pro having the exact same camera features as the iPhone 13 Pro Max this year means that I’m going back to the smaller iPhone Pro! I’ve missed it as I prefer that size. No compromises!

Is the battery life difference between the 13 and 13 Pro simply due to the presence/absence of ProMotion?

Looks like it to me. Presumably same battery, same X60 modem.

Different screens (judging by different max brightness).

Different screens and ProMotion are different, and I don’t think screen tech would result in such large differences in streaming, so perhaps it’s simply due to ProMotion slowing to 24fps for video. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just another botched rollout for Timmy, another line of phones that don't work in a pandemic with COVID masks that are now mandated in many places again, including California. Putting "Designed in California" on it almost sounds like a running joke now.

Apple really can't figure out TouchID under the glass or some other way like others have?

Winning Timmy, just like Charlie. :(
Or you could…you know…get a watch. Not the cheapest solution obviously but it works. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

IF the 13 mini has better battery life like it claims to, I would pick one up to replace my Pixel 3a! Just have to wait for reviews. :)

Defective indeed. Many of us had the same problem. It's likely the battery manufacturer shipped some defective batteries to Apple. I took mine to Geek Squad and they suspected the same thing. I decided to let them change the battery and that solved my problem. It's been two months so far and I'm still at 100%. My original battery was at 97% after 2 months.
Is that something Apple covers under warranty?

Yeah, improved battery life… until IOS16 comes along…. 🙄
Seems like a flaw, no? If I'm home with WiFi that works perfectly and WiFi calling, my phone doesn't need to care about where a cell tower is.

My point still above was that this happens even when I'm traveling. I'll keep the phone in pocket all day at a conference, nothing is running and get home to a dead phone. Let me find a screen shot.;
It’s expected behavior. Baseband goes to high power mode to search for signal. Battery widget tells u exactly why ur battery drains so fast. Fir your conference example for look at the same widget for the reason.

Even on Wifi with Wi-Fi assist turned off?

There are more hidden causes. A Wifi network that has lots of devices broadcasting unsolicited data on the local network, which is usually the case on badly configured company wifi with lots of Microsoft WindowsOS devices. All incoming data causes some activity and uses energy.

And if you own some Homekit enabled bluetooth devices, it will drain battery too because Homekit uses the iPhone as a hub. Unfortunately it is still impossible to switch that off on an iPhone.

A normal battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles when operating under normal conditions. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers battery service for a charge. Learn more about charge cycles.
