Alternatively, we have the screen on the iPad Mini

Lol, I was flabbergasted by that as well. Most mobile phones have OLED for years and 120hz is common.

I think Apple is more focused on the US market where Apple has a big marketshare.

In Europe we have all sorts of mobile phones and most people are receptive for specifications and comparing.

In the Netherlands the iPhone 16E starts at € 719,- where you can get flagship Android phones for the same price. It looks to me that Apple has giving up trying to compete.

I can understand they don’t want to compete at the bottom, but this is getting ridiculous.

Looking forward for their next quarterly results.
The funniest part to me was when Timmy said that in september they released “new era of Iphone 16” 🤣🤣🤣 and that users loved it.
I just really dont get it.
I’ve owned every iPhone since the OG. Even the 5c series and SE series. Then they made 15 Pro max. The lightest and best iPhone to my opinion. What did they do? Hmm lets make same phone but THICKER & heavier and SLAP button just for CAMERA functions…
I mean who else still makes 60hz phones? ….

The only thing that holds me on apple is the ios… no innovation what so ever for the past 4 years…

Sad that a low cost iPhone is now gone : /
Look at the bright side. For the old iPhone SE prices you can buy mobile phones with much better specifications than the new iPhone 16E or buy the old iPhone SE if you don’t want to change brands.

If you’re full into the Apple ecosystem, you’re stuck or it’s costly to switch.

Android offers the same things the Apple ecosystem offers. There isn’t much difference in look & feel anymore and you can customize it easily so you think you’ve iOS on steroids 😊

Well I broke my screen and replaced it with a lcd myself maybe I’m old but can’t really tell the difference lol.

Yeah that's mad. It's like not seeing the diff between an old big ass TV and HD.

But what good is a better tech spec if you can't actually see the difference in practical use? More resolution is pointless if you can't see the pixels as it is now. Sure maybe if you stick your face right up to the phone you might be able to see the pixels now, but who actually uses their phones like that?
Just curious, have you watched any reviews of phones with higher resolution screens? It does seem it's noticeable.

You forgot Lightning to USB C adapter now required. Available in multiple colors for the low price of $50.

I've looked at them in stores, and I can't resolve the pixels on my iPhone at any normal viewing distance. In my opinion, the pixel density of iPhone is good enough now and does not need to be increased anymore.

I would expect it to use Liquid Retina. As a budget model, it's a good move.

It's 2025, so any device still using regular LCD should be criminal. Better be either OLED or Mini-LED. The bottom line is the Liquid Retina LCD that is used on the iPad mini, iPad Air, and Macbook Air.

There are so many videos on this topic. The best solution seems to be DC dimming. My next phone will probably have to be an Android. I will try the 16e in store as well just like I have tried all the others. Typically, I can feel a headache coming on within a few minutes of use.
Have you tried using one for an extended period of time to see if you get used to it?

I used to get headaches I attributed to this, and held onto my iPhone 11 for a long time because of it, but I don’t notice it anymore

I will say I still prefer how an LCD display looks over OLED though, but I know I’m in the minority there. OLED always seems to have a green tinge to it, in comparison

I am legitimately sad about that last one :/

In all seriousness though, I know there are some out there who can’t use OLED screens. Sucks for them that Apple doesn’t really care about their needs. I guess they figure it’s such a small portion of the population that it’s worth losing those sales.

Pretty underwhelming release. Glad I went ahead and got base 16 and didn’t wait on this like I had considered.
