Now please bring this to all iPads (or at least the iPad Air and iPad mini). Doesn't need to be as good as the iPad Pro displays. I just want a decent, middle of the road, good enough for a base iPhone, OLED panel on my next iPad mini.

Relax. I never claimed it "made using my iPhone difficult" and you know that. What I said was they haven't improved the screen like other manufacturers had.
I really think we’re at a point of diminishing returns with pixel density. I don’t know if it’s worth the added complexity for the devs to have to support even more resolutions, and the hit to graphics performance from the higher resolution.

I can’t see pixels unless my phone is like 6” from my eyeball lol

I’m sure they’ll update them eventually, maybe once they drop support for the old pixel densities from the SE3 and prior, but I wouldn’t say it’s a priority. Apple is kind of like Nintendo in that what they provide isn’t always top of the line specs, but a “delightful” experience, and if it causes headaches for devs for no benefit to the experience, they won’t be in a rush to do it

OLED has PWM. :(
You may replace the OLED display with an third party LCD. Look for an in-cell or INCELL display for your phone model.

Have you tried using one for an extended period of time to see if you get used to it?

I used to get headaches I attributed to this, and held onto my iPhone 11 for a long time because of it, but I don’t notice it anymore

I will say I still prefer how an LCD display looks over OLED though, but I know I’m in the minority there. OLED always seems to have a green tinge to it, in comparison
No didn't try for an extended period.

Are you by chance Aaron Zollo? He's the only person I ever hear even mention PWM and it's like an obsession with him.
Who is this zollo!? I will be second one who will mention PWM to you. You may not feel it, but it will affect your eyesight in long term.

It’s like radiation, invisible, but it’s there.
I’ve heard that people having eyesight issues after couple of years of OLED.

So good luck to you when unexpectedly will see worse then usual.

Avoid that OLED.

God help us. Now we have to hear about the apparent 150% of the population that convulses when confronted with OLED displays.

(Shhhhh, it’s not as dramatic as they want you to believe, shhhhhhh)

Lol, I was flabbergasted by that as well. Most mobile phones have OLED for years and 120hz is common.

I think Apple is more focused on the US market where Apple has a big marketshare.

In Europe we have all sorts of mobile phones and most people are receptive for specifications and comparing.

In the Netherlands the iPhone 16E starts at € 719,- where you can get flagship Android phones for the same price. It looks to me that Apple has giving up trying to compete.

I can understand they don’t want to compete at the bottom, but this is getting ridiculous.

Looking forward for their next quarterly results.
No one cares. 60hz, 120hz…. It all looks nice. People who obsess over this look so ridiculous. No one actually cares. Just tech blog people complaining.

I would expect it to use Liquid Retina. As a budget model, it's a good move.

It's 2025, so any device still using regular LCD should be criminal. Better be either OLED or Mini-LED. The bottom line is the Liquid Retina LCD that is used on the iPad mini, iPad Air, and Macbook Air.
People like you should avoid posting their genius "ideas" over the internet.

Ok, fair enough, we just disagree. All good. :)
I mean, yeah. You are entitled to that opinion and all. But I just don't understand why? Why does it matter to you if it really doesn't provide a noticeable benefit? Maybe you can see a slight difference, but is it really a big enough difference to justify the cost in battery consumption to drive those extra pixels? I'm just trying to understand how you are getting to your opinion.

I was hoping for a smaller phone. I'm keeping my iPhone 12 Mini only because of the size. At some point, I will not be able to upgrade to the latest iOS, and apps will stop working.:(

Yeah that's mad. It's like not seeing the diff between an old big ass TV and HD.

Probably why I can’t see a difference when I’m playing sonic the hedgehog, streets of rage and other sega classics . lol.

I wonder how they will perform in terms of viewing angles and colors. I heard from Ross Young, that they are using BOE for the 16e.

Good to see the switch and love OLED displays. People having issues with PWM will not be happy. Now waiting to see the refresh rate increase to 120Hz in the near future.

Fair question. I've seen screens on new Samsung devices, they are better, there's no doubt in my mind. I'm not sure there would be that much of a battery trade-off as battery technology is constantly improving. They are just more vivid and text clarity seems sharper compared to my 16 Plus.
