Why are you so concerned by how people who you will never interact with during your life spend their money?Nah, we know that people can be idiots elsewhere as well. It's just not apple specific then. And don't forget that people who will buy RAM or SSD-upgrades for 4-10 times the market price are not value shoppers either.
It’s clear Hermes are just playing on their brand. Heck, it wouldn’t surprise me if they released a polyester lanyard with a metal bit on the end with the Hermes logo for $500+.well, there is a market for these, otherwise we wouldn't see these offerings, just look at the Hermes thread in the AW forum, and I'm happy for those who like those offerings. Options is a good thing.
All of those comments dismissing the buyers of the bands are just sad ...
Apple is essentially killling off the Hermes line of watches with garbage like this. In the end, people aren’t going to buy these cheap looking bands and Apple will just ditch the Hermes line altogether.
I mean if you aren’t selling the Hermes watches with luxury leather bands then what is the point?
Y'all would be shocked a bag from Hemes would cost! hint: a mid-range thing you drive around.People in this thread would blow their top if they ever stepped into a Hermes store, learned how much they sell their purses for, and the process involved to even be given the opportunity to buy one. The folks who buy these things are not value shoppers comparing prices on AliExpress. I'm not sure why this is a consistently a surprise to the MacRumors forum community.

All of these answers only go to show that none of you have ever had or tried on a (non-leather) Hermès strap for the Apple Watch. They just ooze quality and are in no way comparable to your typical Aliexpress crap. If that quality is worth 350$ (to you) is another question entirely, of course.
Edit: also, the article is wrong. The blue and beige ones are available for the larger Watch.
IMHO That place still belogns to the "Apple cloth" , haha.Guesstimating the cost... this might be the highest margin (legally sold) product in human history. I bought a very similar looking band for my ancient Casio for $17.
Looks like 💩 compared to the leather. Looks like it's been crocheted by my Granny.
Why Apple decided to ditch leather is beyond me. Whatever way you look at it, leather is a byproduct from the meat industry. So what better way to make use of more of the animal than to use the skin for leather. Whereas when companies ditch leather their is the potential for the leather to been thrown into landfill.
i wouldn't trust this either. but in any case you're wearing a material that absorbs sweat and gunk and that's not very sanitary to me.Not sure that I'd trust something from 'aliexpress' to not be made from unsavoury substances that will combine with sweat and leach into my skin…

I have some extremely bad news for you about the actual material cost value of the leather Hermes bands.Oh stop, people know that Hermes sells high end expensive items. But there is a difference between selling a high end luxury leather band or bag over selling a knitted Apple Watch band.
What's a surprise is that they are selling these particular types of bands for the prices. The point is that Apple removed leather and is still trying to live off of the Hermes leather brand by selling these garbage bands at leather prices.
$5?I have some extremely bad news for you about the actual material cost value of the leather Hermes bands.
