Getting one as an early Christmas birthday gift. (My birthday is dec 26 so my mom tends to by me one gift lol but she does make it count). Will be a nice upgrade from my iPad 2. Don't get me wrong love my iPad 2 but it's in need of an up grade.

same here...

I guess I will decide as soon as I go to the apple store in 1 week...

the ipad4 seems so much heavier than the iPadMini and I think the new Air is going to be groundbreaking in that area...

;)

Wouldn't you rather wait until both models are available to compare?

Yeah, Apple's muddied the waters a bit this year:
  • There's only a $100 price difference between the iPad mini with Retina and iPad Air.
  • Both mini 2 and Air have essentially the same hardware, just different form factors.
  • There's only a 138g difference in weight between then Air and mini 2 compared to 344g between the iPad 3/4 and the original iPad mini.
  • mini 2 is 23g heavier than the mini.
  • Air will be released on November 1, no firm release date for the mini 2 and supply issues are anticipated.

I'd really like the mini 2 but I need to have it delivered before Thanksgiving holidays. If I can't get it by then, I think I'll just skip again this year. That or wait for refurbs. :p

Essentially the only difference between the iPad Air and the iPad Mini is the size of the display and thus the price. It's kind of like the difference between the 11" and 13" MacBook Airs.

I too would have like to have the Mini before Thanksgiving. I'm sure Apple tried as hard as possible to have the Mini and the Air available immediately after the October 22nd event. Not sure if this will drive interest or Apple is missing out on purchases via preorder or those impulse buys right after the event.

Definitely getting an iPad Air w/ T-Mobile. Wasn't going to make the move, but I need it to study for my IT certs and the space gray is the nice touch to go along w/ my 5S.

Owning a nice iPad 4, which is sufficient for writing documents, reading e-books, surfing the web and using chess apps, I do prefer an upgrade to iPad 7.
(And before upgrading to the next version of iOS, I will carefully read critics and comments on it's effects to the 4. I clearly remember, how the iPad 1 became slowed down. And I insist in having 128gb for a reasonable price.)
