I do not care is Siri “glows” or not. Just give her some brains and permissions to do basic functions.

Hey Sir, turn on “silence unknown callers”. Things like this would be of value to users, not if she glowed!

Why would someone want to generate an image if it’s not realistic, or only have a slim amount of categories that can be created? I’ll probably still play around with Image Playground for a little bit, but I’m sure that’ll be short lived. I’d rather Apple take Google’s approach, even if the images created are inappropriate. I guess I can’t really complain a whole lot since I signed up for the wall garden and gate keeping of Apple.
I agree. But you have to see the tech press' point of view, which Apple has absolutely coveted since the Steve Jobs' days. They are freaked the Hell out by this stuff and screaming about "MISINFORMATION!" Go read The Verge--they have basically had a heart attack over Google's photos AI and how the world will end if us peons are allowed to use realistic image manipulation.

So Apple gives us cartoons. Just like the water pistol emoji. Apple will always do the perceived socially correct thing to do through the eyes of the tech press. Always.

By the time all these features are out, it’ll be time for the next iPhone. So much for “hello, Apple intelligence”. Or will it be “Now, it’s really hello” for the next iPhone slogan?

People photoshop misinforming images all the time, along with videos using AI to impersonate voices. I think people should have the freedom to create what they want and let the audience be the ones to determine the authenticity of the image. If it’s not true, it should be quite easy to prove it isn’t true. Of course, like everything, some people will abuse it for nefarious reasons. I don’t think that should be the reason why to not have realistic looking image creation tools.

Never would have happened under steve jobs, what is going on? you don't get to just kick features that were supposed to be release with 18 down the road..
It’s amusing to read all the frustrations in this thread. Earlier this year, I pointed out that most of the key features Apple will announce for iOS 18 probably won’t be readily available until 2025.

I’ve tried to give Apple the benefit of the doubt, assuming there’s some good reason behind these delayed rollouts. And let me clarify—I love Apple. I’ve worked for them for many years in the past, so I have some insight into how they operate. But the Apple of today is not the same as it used to be. Until more people realise that, you’ll keep being disappointed or frustrated.

There’s a lot of bias floating around. Apple is a trillion-dollar company, and until Tim Cook steps down and some major changes happen within certain teams, we’ll continue being gaslighted.

My post got deleted after getting 30+ likes for interfering with or misdirecting the discussion so in an effort to stay on topic I’m posting the following:

It’s a shame ChatGPT integration is not coming in iOS 18.1, as that seems like one of the more compelling features with Apple Intelligence.

For the sake of free speech I’m pasting what I previously said below:

I hate to use this word, but my goodness MacRumors is thirsty for clicks these days. The editors keep posting the same feature lists and round-ups over and over. Hell, even the deals posts are getting re-posted. News must be slim because they keep flooding the homepage with the same types of articles over and over. Personally, I prefer quality over quantity.

Again, it’s a shame ChatGPT integration is not coming to iOS 18.1, but perhaps it needs more time in the oven.

Its embarrassing for Apple nobody else

Apple no they were caught off guard with al and tried to get back on track and add it in quickly to keep up with others
The whole ai in your phone really is a waste of time. I wouldn’t pay 1 cent for it.

I can see entire generations not only having lost the ability to place themselves in 2d in their countries as they use gps (which will cost them dear if gps fails or is unavailable) but also unable to focus and/or think without the aid of ai. I can in-fact see that the time when ai takes over the jobs of people who don’t have to use their brains is accelerating because more and more people will simply abdicate using their brains because they’re mentally lazy. Note I have used ai. I’ve experimented with it at some length and was impressed in some ways and very much not in others.
