And I'm looking to upgrade from an early 2008 iMac 27", so even if the next refresh only offers a slight bump in performance, it'll be a significant upgrade for me.

I'd like to see a Retro CRT redesign in 30" with a massive 3'-4' behind the screen, room enough for the innards of several Mac Pro's. It might weigh 200 lbs, but you'd have desktop graphics and loads of air vents. Only RAM expandability still. Think of all they would sell on nostalgia alone!
