The Apple Watch is the most sold watch (not just smart watch) in the world, by far. How much more „mainstream“ do you expect it to be?

I don’t know many people personally who wear one.

I’m not saying they aren’t the best smart watch out there.. I’m only saying that it’s the best looking smart watch among a handful of other terrible designs.

I would wear a smart watch if it was thinner and was closer to the wrist.. and I bet there are a lot of people out there just like me.

I want a round watch of proper proportions. The new watch would have a watchface and only have SIRI as the input method.

A round watch wastes a lot of screen area that can be used by apps to display information. I have watches dating back to the 1980’s that are square, and there are probably ones from earlier than that but I physically have ones that old. I am a function over form person, and if a square/rectangular face allows more information to be displayed then for a smart watch that’s what I want. I can wear something more fashionable if I am going formal and I need something for looks.
Hence why I used the word “option”.

Something does not quite add up. The watch will be thinner, but there will be no “significant” design changes to the Digital Crown. On my 44mm AW6, the crown is slightly less than the width of the watch. It will be interesting to see how the unchanged Digital Crown appears on the new design.
Sensor slimming down.

I have a Tag Heuer monaco and it’s very comfortable on the wrist despite the sharp edges. It’s a squared watch.

well you own it.. but not sure its a fair comparison. for 1, it is curved...and for another the backside with the contact has a wedge design to listen any sharp blunt edges..

I know easily 20 people that own one, and I see them all the time in stores and restaurants when I go out... where do you live? (I live east cost usa)

have you tried the Apple Watch? just curious. I bet there are a lot of people judging before they try :)

I really don't like the flat sides, but it depends on if there are any new sensors for me to decide to replace my V6. I still like square, so no way would I change to round, even if my main phone wont be an iPhone anymore...

The S5 was my first Apple Watch and I still wear it today. I really like the rectangular form factor and wouldn’t buy a new one if they make it round like the Garmin Fenix for example.. when I first heard about the new flat edge design, I was very excited. I like the design and handling of my iPhone 12 and M1 iPad Pro much more than the older rounded models. So I thought the new designed S7 would fit very well in my lineup. But the more renderings on YouTube and elsewhere I see, the more I feel remembered on old Fitbit and Android watches… I don’t know why but it has a cheap looking vibe… And I really like the design of my S5. Hopefully the real S7 looks way better than all those renderings..

These comments about disliking the flat edges crack me up. You know there will be several case makers that will offer a case with rounded edges. A thick round edge will give lots of bump protection. It will be bulky AF, but if that what you really want... there will likely be an option for you.

My wallet is ready! I skipped iPhone 11 and 12, ready for 13! Actually, my XS had an issue, replaced with another XS, insurance, that replacement was a POS, so they sent me a green 11, it's ok going to a 13 mini. My AW4 LTE is coming up on being 3 years old as well, it still holds a charge for 23 hours. I only charge it while in the shower and getting ready for work (approximately 1 hour each day, give or take); ready to jump to a 7!

They sell cases for Apple watches? I'd have never known because I never shopped for one. I've had a series 1,2,4,5,6 and never had any damage a case would help. I don't like the flat edges either, but I wouldn't put a case around them. :) I haven't decided on a series 7 yet, I have to see what other hardware it has.

We've tried several different cases over the years in our circle. Right now we are all sporting Casology's rubberized case that pairs nicely with any silicon sport band. My current setup is a black Nike sport band, the Caseology case matches perfectly.

I’ve tried it. And it’s thick and uncomfortable to wear.

Lots of people think otherwise because that’s what they want to believe. I bet if they had the choice of a thinner watch, they would take it. But they don’t, so they just live with it.
