Another week, another alleged leak regarding Apple's fabled foldable iPhone. We've been hearing rumors about an iPhone that folds in half for over eight years now. While they have lacked consistency, they do suggest that Apple has tested various prototypes, with the hinge seemingly the biggest challenge Apple has been trying to overcome. Apple wants to eliminate any crease in the screen before bringing a device to market.

Today's "exclusive" information about Apple's foldable comes from Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station, and it concerns the screen measurements. According to the Chinese leaker, the device has a 5.49-inch outer screen that resembles the new Oppo Find N5, but is shorter and wider. Meanwhile, the inner screen is 7.74 inches and unfolds like an iPad. Apparently both displays have an "unprecedented aspect ratio." Apple's foldable phone will launch next year or the year after that, says the leaker, with a foldable iPad also expected to arrive within the same time frame.

Make of that what you will. The account has previously posted accurate information about the iPhone 12 mini's display, iPhone 15's upgraded sensor, and iPhone 16 Pro size increases. Digital Chat Station's launch timing for the device is also not too far off from other rumors we've heard. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Jeff Pu, The Information, and The Wall Street Journal have all suggested Apple is targeting a foldable iPhone launch in late 2026 or early 2027. We eagerly await its arrival so that this perennial rumor can finally become a reality. For more information on the ever-shifting Apple foldable landscape, be sure to check our dedicated guide.

this is a tough timeline for tech evolution. we need to have super elastic displays with computers integrated in the fibre. then we can roll them or fold them or combine them together or put them on our retina. that would end this series of senseless products and iterations.

I dread to think how much it'll cost... I reckon 1500 to 2 grand easy for 128GB. And a foldable iPad. Could be interesting but what will be more interesting is if they manage to put an M chip in it or not, although the OS will still hold it back no doubt. And both will STILL have creases as they haven't gone away.

Given Apple’s approach to ‘better late than never’, it won’t be released until iPhone 20 release! Definitely something to be excited about!

I'm only interested if it's a sensible sized phone unfolded. I cant imagine that would actually happen as the vast majority of people seem to want the largest possible phone. I expect it will be an iPhone-ish sized folded, then unfold to an iPad mini size or similar. If so im 100% not interested.

...You had me at 5.4" screen.

I know it may be a bit wide for one-handed use, but shorter phones don't topple out of your fingers so easily, so this genuinely excites me.

I can imagine them marketing it like a smaller Moleskine

Also, similar form factor as the Oppo Find N?

Clamshell > bookstyle. I don't need a bigger screen, but I do want a small phone in my pocket and ability to use it one-handed.

That said, I don't really have any interest in a foldable phone, of any flavor.
I'm not interested in foldables either. I'm just stating what I would prefer if I were to buy a foldable. I respect your opinion nonetheless.

If Apples comes out with a foldable phone, the cost will kill most mini obsessed people from buying it.

There are still some multitasking functions that iPadOS had over iOS. The fact they haven't made a 2-in-1 Mac/iPad combo tells me they won't optimize iOS to be more "iPad like" with a foldable.

edit: thought you meant iPad mini, but realize you quoted someone referencing iPhone mini.

More. Even the Galaxy Fold Z6 starts at 2k Euro
