I see this as more of a business product, than a home-use product, because it would be bulky and have a price point similar to macbooks more than likely, considering the current price points for the ipad and ipad mini.

since when does this site post mockups?

They have been doing it since it started getting page hits. Hardware, concepts etc. if it gets them hits and thus ad money they will post your mother naked with an Apple Logo shaved into her hair

I'll be right back. My 3D printer just finished printing a mock up of iPhone 7. Maybe I'll make the front page!

I think you mean your prototype AppleD printer just finished

If you told me that this "iPad Pro" was a CTO item sold only to businesses to use for POS and other Kiosk systems, I might buy it.

But as a general use item I'm just not seeing it

I don't think I've ever heard someone complain "gosh, I wish my iPad was bigger and more uncomfortable to hold and use".

I bet that this larger "iPad" is actually a detachable screen for the upcoming 12.1" MBP update.

This was probably prompted by clueless demands from customers that drive the marke tforces, much like 5.5" screened phones that feel almost as big as a portable iron. I could go and say the same about 1080p res on 5" screensthat deplete batteries in 4 hrs.
10" tablet is already big. They already have 11" MBA to take it from there.

Then you can hear me complain that "gosh, I wish my iPad was about the size of a printed magazine page so that it would be more comfortable to read and able to display more on a screen."

I would have no problem holding something the size of a magazine. Even if the iPad Pro weighed twice as much as an iPad Air, that's still only about 2 pounds -- not exactly powerlifting.

Yeah, I'm "clueless" because I want schematic diagrams, repair manuals, and magazines sized such that I don't have to do a pan-and-scan the entire time I use the tablet. Not all of us are playing Candy Crush and Flappy Birds like you and your little friends.

Phones are supposed to be compact. Tablets are supposed to be large. What's stupid is big phones and small tablets.

Yeah, it's really practical to try to use a MacBook Air one-handed to read in bed, isn't it, Mr. Wizard? Maybe you can get your fellow passengers on the subway to help you set up a folding table so you can type and use a trackpad on your MacBook Air.

Apple needs to make a 27" tablet

Stop speaking out of your butt. Large phones like the Note 3 actually have better battery life than the iPhone. And 4 hour run time is a complete lie. It's Apple that is sacrificing battery life in the name of thinness.

I've been doing research on how to pair a Mac Mini with an iPad as a dedicated wireless display. This is an ideal setup for me since I injured my back and I can't sit at a desk for long periods of time. The only concern I have is lag time, but I think a 12" iPad would make it a sweeter setup as a desktop and mobile device in one.

The orientation of the Apple logo on the model is portrait, if it were a detachable screen for a laptop then wouldn't it be landscape? (Although they do say that the "design of the mockup is very rudimentary"….)

Apple, shut up and take my money

I'm a musician and teacher. I would buy this the FIRST SECOND it became available...

I'd do the same if I were an artist, engineer, publisher, architect, photo/video, animation/movie, (graphic) designer, doctor, scientist, sports coach, fashionista, retailer, educator, strategist, presenter of any kind, into CAD, into stocks, into maps, into "board" games, into scrapbook making, a DJ, etc., etc.

I want/need my sheet music digitized, organized, searchable, available.
Same with fine art, photography and travel books...

Don't understand the bitching and complaining...

There has to be almost no R&D involved with this product. No one is predicting fancy new technology, just larger size.

SO this is probably taking very little away from other Apple products. Who cares if you don't see a purpose for it!!!!!!! How many of you own every Apple product??? And the ones you don't own therefore shouldn't exist right?

If this mockup turns out to be a real product, it seems like Apple is following in the footsteps of Microsoft. I wouldn't be surprised if the iPad Pro comes with a OS X/iOS hybrid that can run both desktop applications and iOS apps, similar to the Microsoft Surface Pro. It could be the fanless MBA that everyone is talking about. I don't see Apple calling it "Pro" if it runs iOS.

Sometimes i like to relax in my sofa/desk and mess with my laptop. It does more than what an ipad does and about the same size of that monstrosity.

Tablets would need to come with removable keyboards and run the full operating systems to really take off. Also a 15 inch plus display with a stand device

You got it. Surface is a genuine attempt. Apple can do it properly, but why? Sacrifice iPad and MBA users buying one device instead of two? I'd prefer two tailored devices than one that is only 75% at both tasks.

If you have to lay it down on a table and begins to defeat the purpose. And oh god please don't put a camera in it...

It should not be surprising to expect a larger tablet computer. It would be more surprising if one were to never be developed.

There are huge advantages to having more rather than less information or visual work available for creation, editing, or analysis. It's strange that this is even being criticized at all.
