French site Nowhereelse.fr shares [Google translation] a photo of what are claimed to be trays of batteries for the iPhone 5S coming off of a production line. While their identity as iPhone 5S batteries can not be confirmed due to a lack of markings on them, if the claim is true it would be further evidence that production is indeed ramping up for the next-generation iPhone.

Over the past week, we've shared several photos of a prototype iPhone 5S manufactured in December 2012, revealing that the battery offers a higher capacity than the iPhone 5 battery, moving from 5.45 Whr and 1440 mAh to 5.92 Whr and 1560 mAh, an increase of roughly 8%.

Our photos show that the battery in the prototype iPhone 5S is itself a prototype, with a number of placeholders for various regulatory logos and identification numbers.

Earlier this week, a photo of iPhone 5S display assemblies on a production line also appeared, with the new parts identifiable by a change in the design of the flex cable connectors.

The iPhone 5S is expected to be introduced later this year, with the September timeframe being the most commonly claimed window for launch.

WOW MAYBE IN 3 years they can get 2200mAH, like the rest of smartphones that came out LAST YEAR, by then the norm will be 4000mAH, get with it Apple, the S4 has almost double that battery life, and double the bench marks, sick of you being 3 years behind!!!! :apple:

Ditto. I know that Apple prides themselves on being able to use smaller, cheaper batteries because their devices are so "efficient". I pray to God that my iPhone 4S is just an aberration; I wake up, check the weather and the mail, sync Reeder, get on the train (in airplane mode) and listen to some tunes while reading. In 30 minutes, I'm down to 93% - in airplane mode, after using the internet for 5 minutes.

I'd love a battery that was big enough to use my iPhone as a GPS for 8 hours without worrying about a cord. As it is, I eke by with maybe 2-2.5 hours of GPS.

It will be interesting to see the practical battery life of the 5S, given the energy-conserving features in iOS 7. Anyway, when I got my S4, I was really surprised to see how long the battery lasted (despite the bigger screen!!) and I think it will be hard for Apple to beat that.

Agreed, did they even go into how the battery thing works? Could it just be a marketing plow, and they didn't focus on it, they sorta brushed it, a 1500mAH battery is absolute BS, and with a better screen, and new features, Battery Life is gonna suffer, and be worse than the iPH5 (fathers iPH5 lasts half a day at most!).

5S battery in 5?

What are the chances this battery could be retrofitted into the current iPhone 5? Is it physically larger? Does it have the same connector? I'd love my 5 even more if the battery lasted longer.

So based on a modest battery improvement of 8%, that means the resolution of the iPhone 5S will not jump from 640p to 1080p?
