Come on guys, haven't you been on this site the last couple of months? The iPhone 8/Edition/Pro won't have TouchID, that's about 99,9% certain. The tech isn't there yet to get it under the screen reliability wise, speed wise and mass production wise. It's also not going on the back or the phone and there is 0 indication it will be in the power button.

Almost everything is clear regarding the hardware, the only real mystery is how apple is going to handle the home button area and parts of the screen next to the notch software wise.

I'm still holding on lol.

THIS is what we want!. Phone-bits banter. Almost as much fun as Mac-parts prattle. I was particarly intrigued at whether the cable connector has gold contacts and if the final version will have silver? I'm also fascinated by the sellophane wrapping under the components. Was that the same sellophane that will be used to cover the final retail boxes? Doubly interesting for me was noting the reflection in the case glass which may or not show an image of a McChicken Deluxe sandwich presumably being consumed by the person taking the illicit photograph. Does that mean we can presume said individual had a McDonalds liking. Or he/she prefers KFC but used the foody comestible as a distraction technique to put people off the scent. Literally. Bottom line? This 'exclusive' may seem intensely irrelevant, tedious and mind-crushingly and interminably dull to about 99.45% of the world population but for someone as anally retentive and introspective as myself it has swayed me into going for the 128gb Plus Rolled Gold model - with extra fries.
Have a nice day now.
Hello, sir. What would you like to order?

It's not "IN" the display, but they worked around limitations by sandwiching it in between the glass and display. We'll find out September though if it comes to production.

There is nothing in the leaked iOS code or supply chain that supports this. Nor has any credible leaker reported on this. I don't know where you got this rumour, but it is most likely fake.

Still don't like the bezel for the camera, speaker, etc. i hope this will come out nice in the actual model. I haven't replaced my iPhone 6. Cannot find a reason to replace unlike before, I usually upgrade with a new design.

You're going to like it. I guarantee it.

Yes agreed, but it's still a hope! I like it on my devices, so would prefer it to be evolved rather than dropped.

It’s got the least bezel of a phone design than any phone.

Maybe.... maybe not...

Look at the huge bottom bezel and that camera notch, iPhone 8 wins

Vivo showed a prototype in June using a Qualcomm ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that works from behind a display.

https://www.engadget.com/2017/06/28/vivo-qualcomm-under-display-fingerprint-reader/

However, the sensor won't be ready for mass production until next year.

It's still not a real device. Wait until they actually reveal something that will come to your hands. Don't fall for marketing BS.

No TouchID, no sale.

Unless the facial recognition is so amazing it can do it whilst not pointed at my face (i.e. whilst doing Apple Pay), whilst I'm wearing sunglasses, or a hat, or a scarf half-covering my face, or in the dark, and can recognise different faces (I have my wife setup on my phone and vice-versa so we can each unlock each others phones).

It'll also cause issues for people wearing motorcycle helmets, ski masks, and, I guess a bit more controversially, face-covering religious headgear.

Yes, I know I could just enter my PIN, but that's a step back in functionality. Facial sounds great, but it should complement, not replace.

Actually, I don't like either of them

Agreed.
Not sure if squeezing that extra screen space on either sides of the notch will add to the user experience.
As the notch is a permanent static object, frankly I can't see an elegant software solution.
The notch against any contrasting background is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Was hoping for an infinity type display like the s8. I know some of you loathe that, but Samsung did a wonderful job with that display.

very nice, but a concept is different from an actual product that will ship and perhaps sell.

anyway to claim bezel-less is indeed a misnomer for any of the mobile phones on the market today. thinner bezel would be appropriate but such claims makes boring marketing. regardless, it sure would be nice to see most of the “forehead” and nearly all of the “chin” gone in this round of design.

Unless it's Apple's..

Apple's devices consistently leak this time of the year every year for how many years now? And when reveal comes guess what its the same phone that was leaked a month or two before the reveal *Shocking!*

Where is this phone being sold? And is it being sold in mass quantities?

I think it's china only, the previous version (2016) was sold in mass quantities. Idk if it's mass as in 2 million mass, or mass as in 100,000+.

It uses bone conduction for the speaker.

The original version had the front facing camera on the bottom bezel, which was a obvious downside for many. I can't tell if this new (2) version they were able to get it under the display, or if it's simply being masked in this "advertisement" picture, but still on the bottom bezel.
