A gold iPhone

We happen to see the worst privacy breach ever, the US government is forcing all large IT companies to be an accessory to breach the constitution and theone person Snowden, who did nothing more than alerting the public, is forced to hide away, while the British Secret Service is bullying what we considered to be "the free press".
And in other world-shattering news: Apple reportedly will launch a gold-colored phone.

The people that post here are idiots.

You realise you posted that here, don't you?

I think what you were trying to convey with your little rant was that everyone whose opinion differs from yours is an idiot.

You'll go far with that attitude - or at least people will tell you to.

I have NEVER been to a store that uses NFC for payments. Hence, the reason that apple hasn't added it to their phones yet. See the logic?... Probably not.

NFC is becoming more common in the UK, but you're probably right - Apple won't add it until YOU find a store that uses it. Don't forget to inform them when you do.

for real?

do you know this is macrumours.com not angrywhitemansays.com?

A gold phone...
With the gold back and sides to be promptly covered with a solid color or artistic design plastic cover to protect the phone. The only part of the gold phone showing is the white faceside of the phone.
I bet they will charge a premium for the gold model because, well, it's gold.

Man have times changed. At one time white people were all about gold killing themselves to make themselves rich up in the Yukon. Now they seem to loathe it.

You haven't even seen it, and it's terrible already?

What stuff?

iOS7 icons for one. The iPad now looks like a fisher price interactive play-mat.

Just the thought of a gold coloured anything is terrible. All I can think of looking at the mock up is a middle aged woman in peddle pushers wearing gold strappy sandals driving a gold Rover 400. It's tacky.

Do you own a iPad? Do you enjoy your iPad? What does the color of a device have to do with the design?
And it's not gold it's a soft champagne color

Yes I own an iPad. Yes I enjoy my iPad (on iOS6).

I'm a graphic designer - colour has a whole lot to do with design. If this forum had black text on a black background it would be bad design as you wouldn't be able to use it.

However the choice of colour for outer casing of a phone is more of a preferential choice and I was merely voicing my opinion. No it doesnt affect the functionality of the phone but if it looks like the mock up then it will look terrible (in my opinion). Don't get upset because you don't agree with my opinion. Design is all about opinion - this is mine.

I do agree with you a Titanium colour may look quite good especially with a matt type finish on the back like the iP5 (I have the 4s in white with glass back).

I was not getting upset I was just trying to figure out where you were coming from. It just seems to me that everyone thinks it's a failed decision to offer another color

Its not because its 'another' colour, its because its a poor choice of colour. Gold coloured is poor mans gold. If the phone was actually gold then it would still look bad, but hey its actual gold! :D It's all about mentality. It will probably sell like crazy in the East but not so well in the West.

Why not? I'll bet women and teens would buy it.

Gold champagne titanium is a logical choice for a third color of a all metal phone. Gold cases are very popular in the United states.

How can AllThingsD actually confirm this?

I see you are from Europe. You may not know that AllThingsD is connected to the WSJ (Wall Street Journal) a highly regarded business publication and is very very well connected to Apple. It is also assumed that they received controlled leaks from Apple from time to time. If they say it, you might as well regard it as fact MOST of the time. Not ALWAYS but certainly most. Walt Mossberg from ATD was very close to Steve Jobs.

I was being sarcastic. Nevertheless, some interesting facts you posted.

Everyone is talking about it. So it's real? The champagne iPhone definately looks better than the previously rumored gold.
