Almost every product needs an update!

(My brother just bought an ipod (video), despite the fact that i told him it is due for update very soon.... - some people either dont know or just dont care)

most people don't care I think. Mostly tech heads love the latest and greatest, everyone else loves to go "ooo ahh!" then bitch about how much it must cost

Agreed. Also don't forget one very important piece of software needs an update: Microsoft Office. Until a Universal Binary is released, a two year old Powerbook G4 runs Office just as good as the latest MBP. Not much reason for a writer or consultant or typical cubicle dweller to upgrade.

I'm hoping that by the end of the year Apple has some really great machines out and every app is Universal. Until then, not much to do but sit on the sidelines.
