OP, no one expected Apple to announce hardware. You are disappointed that all they talked about was software. That was the purpose. WWDC is for developers. The event you are looking forward to will be in a couple months or so.

It's called world wide developer conference. Developer means new software, APIs, etc.

Not world wide "omg shiny new phones" conference.

Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers......sorry, whenever I hear that word I think of Stev Ballmer's crazy rant.

What I find so funny is that all of you claiming it's the WWDC. Apple does not announce hardware it's all software. Had the announced some hardware. None of you would be saying anything. As I've stated before Apple has generally announced some sort of hardware. I mean last year they announced the New mac pros, MacBook Airs, redesigned time capsule and new AirPort Extreme 2012 MacBook Pro retina. 2010 iPhone 4 2009 new MacBooks iPhone 3GS. Gee I guess you guys are right they never announce hardware at a software conference.

I sincerely doubt that. People are on contracts which start on every day of the year. Mine is 6th June, and has been for over ten years. Way before the first iPhone was released.

If you think about the release weekends and how many millions they sell in the 1st couple days is why they wouldn't want to switch the dates up or months. When they moved from the summer release to the fall it was later. That way people are still available where as if you tried to switch back to summer people would have to wait and sales would decline. Apple can't have a decline in sales on the release weekend. Would kill share prices if that happened. This does go into account for release dates.

WWDC is usually about software end -- at least thats what apple has been making it to be unless of course there is a minor mid cycle refresh happening such as with Mac's.

So I'm not disappointed because I did not expect any iPhone / iPad hardware to be announced today.

Apple doesn't use SD cards....you know that right? They use and only use Flash storage.

I just hope they include USB 3.0 support in the next iPhone and yes I will agree that 32GB should be standard but it seems that people are doing well away with 16GB (especially many non-expandable Android phones still selling with 16GB capacity....) So to get over my "hopes" I know that Apple will not dump 16GB this year because too many people are still doing just fine with it (not me tho -- I go for the biggest)
The iPhone 5S is literally twice the price of a Nexus 5. At that price point, selling a 16GB phone is close to ripping off your customers.

Then gladly go buy the Nexus 5....No one is forcing you to buy an iPhone :)

There's products that exist for those that are interested in them, its not for everyone.

Apple is not in the business to create cheapest hardware possible....google does that and you get what you pay for.....

Well Organized Ecosystem vs Messy Ecosystem that makes money off of your data.

Google is in the game for Quantity and Apple is in the game for Quality....for most of us Quality is way more important.....I'm gonna stop here because I don't want to start another Android VS iOS war so at the end of the day you decide what your wallet allows you to own or fiancee (payment plans/subsidy)

I'm torn. Previously the decision wasn't so hard because the extra price for an iPhone was not that much compared to the high-end Android devices. But the gap is becoming increasingly large. And 16GB was the base model five years ago as well. I'm not asking for the cheapest hardware possible, I just don't want to spend more than $1000 for a 32GB device. $1000! That is insane.

In the US an iPhone is extremely cheap so maybe that's why you don't fully understand me.

Don't spend it. Simple.

I was so busy today I didn't even check news till maybe 4pm est. was kind of shocked there wasn't anything new

Aside from a massive overhaul of OS X, a new version of iOS with improvements that people have been wishing for since iOS came out, and a massive amount of developer support improvements.

You people are ridiculous. There was nothing concrete about hardware, and it's been years since Apple has launched a flagship device at WWDC. It's laughable that so many people were banking on it. Waiting to see what happened on the off chance is one thing, but to throw a tantrum and act as if there's not "anything new" is just absurd.

Everyone knows the refresh schedule, and WWDC is for software.

Your post is what is ridiculous. I don't rescan anyone throwing anything similar to a tantrum. And To suggest such seems you are the one reacting badly. Once again it hasn't been years since Apple announced hardware at WWDC it's been one year and that's the time frame between them. If you take the time to research something before you come in somewhere half cocked and start throwing accusations around you will have a little more credibility.

Seems to me WWDC was a royal waste of money this year for those attending.

Also dissapointed there was no new iphone anounced?

No way. The sessions on the new APIs and programming language are worth every penny to the vast majority of people in attendance. Plus they get to meet other developers.

A. I'd describe anyone stomping their foot like a child who didn't get the right color lollipop and pouting to be "throwing a tantrum". Behave like a child, get called out as doing so.

B. You're referencing the release of the Mac Pro last year. Shocker, but it's a mac aimed directly at professionals. What's that? Developers fall under that category? Color me surprised!
As numerous other posts point out, it has been several years since an iOS device was introduced at WWDC.

C. Half-cocked and still more level headed than you, quickdraw. ;)
I researched plenty, and my post wasn't unfounded. It was also on topic, rather than a detour to personally attack someone, as yours was. Bravo.

Whatever you say.
