Yeah, but when you're first learning it, it helps out a ton to have the keys changed. Plus, when other people use your computer, they'll be able to type, too...;)

That's what images of keyboard layouts are for. And I think THAT really accelerates your muscle memory, rather than exercising hand-eye coordination.

And I thought the whole point was so that people couldn't use your computer...or maybe I'm over-protective.

BTW - some dude talking about Dvorak on iPhone? That's not possible, is it?
 
I don't see why it isn't possible. The phone while have on it somewhere the map of the keys and seeing as people have been able to get in and activate it I don't see why this can't be modified.

Well, yes. Not possible - yet.
 
I have been using the alternative layout Colemak for over a year on my MacBook and love it. I didn't rearrange the keys and I think that was the best as it forced me to learn to touch type correctly and look at the screen when I am typing.

I hope on the new iPhone 3G with SDK 2.0 coming out that it will be possible to use my choice of layout of keyboard rather be stuck with Qwerty.
