No. Neither Path Finder nor Xfile fun on top of Finder. Path Finder replaces the Finder desktop with its own, and Xfile doesn't use a desktop at all. Finder is not used by either of them period, and I don't think there are any other real file managers out there. I think you're thinking of apps that "complement" Finder, such as File Buddy and A Better Finder Renamer, or whatever its name is. They're not file managers anyway. There are ways to interact with Finder programmatically, but they're not impressive. File managers that are complete file managers, and not just additional tools won't be dependent on Finder.This is my biggest beef with Finder "alternatives," they have to be run ON TOP of the Finder.
