When Alumacase first said they would offer a discount I honestly was thinking something like 20% for the first 20-30 people. And for $40-some dollars, this is a case that I would try. In any event, it is my personal preference not to pay $60 for a case that I don't feel very strongly about. From the outset it looked good enough where I'd give it consideration but the price had to be right and in the end it's just not for me. Would I pay $80 for a Vapor? Yes, because I really find those cases more appealing.

Say what you will about being ungrateful, etc. I really don't care; it's just how I personally feel. I have absolutely nothing against Alumacase and I'm very impressed with how responsive and open they've been all this time. But when all is said and done, I'm going to spend my money elsewhere.

I'm along the same lines of thinking here. I'll therefore forgo my ordering w/Alumacase & just pre-order & wait for Elements Vapor. While Element is more expensive their cases are also more appealing than a five $5.00 or $10.00 discount for the two (2) Alumacases I was going to order. Again not ungrateful as maverick86 states but when all is said & done, I'll also spend my money elsewhere. Discount or no discount just my preference so I'll skip on my two (2) cases (Shadow Grey & Vampiric Red) & their respective Carbon Backings (Titanium & Black).

Thanks but no thanks good luck & much success Alumacase.

It's funny how people are whining about people whining. everyone has an opinion. Like maverick, I have no problem with Alumacase or buying it full price. But Alumacase did mention he was going to offer a significant discount so that we can buy multiple. For $60 shipped, how many people can buy multiple cases? I was interpreting his own comment. Again, nothing against Alumacase.

edit: here's the quote: "Yep... it will be priced... much lower..... so everyone will be able to afford other colors. Stay tuned in the next week, and i promise i will disclose final pricing numbers... everyone will be happy... except for the competitors"

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/11092445/

anyways, this is life. He wants to make money (who doesn't), and we want to save money (who doesn't). The discount and this thread is giving him plenty of advertisement for free. We keep bumping the thread and he's always at the top. Do you know how much that is worth to a seller and how many people visit this site daily? It's worth more than $5/case. But yes, he doesn't owe us anything.

his quote said it's priced a lot less (25% is a lot less for an extremely similar case).

If you compare to Element Vapor case yes. But how about Fusionwerkz.

https://fusionwerkz.com/iPhone_4_Case.php

it's not even available yet haha. Alumacase is responding to their customers and not taking a crazy amount of orders before they can even ship.

Fusionwerkz is pulling a elementcase, stocking up on preorders, and they'll sit on the money while they take 3-4 months to fill all the orders.

Plus alumacase's look much nicer.

Actually they are not taking orders. Just preorders but that is not the same thing Element is pulling. I have not been asked for 1 cent from Fusionwerkz yet and I was promised that I wouldn't until my case was ready to ship. And yes I am in group A so I would say there is alot of difference of how they are handling the situation with their cases. Maybe they are only doing it to see the demand they will have to meet! You never know why companies do what they do. Element is just flat terrible. I ordered my cases and have yet to see 1 of them yet but they didn't hesitate to take my money on day 1.

I'm not saying Fusionwerkz is nicer, I'm just stating the point about the pricing. I like Alumacase's clean lines better too. So many cases around now but not many good ones to choose from.

So I'm confused by your statement. Are you buying a discount or a case? On one hand you admit that you like the Element (with no discount mind you) more then a 5 or 10 dollar discount on the Alumacase.

Given the success of Element, and the ravenous reception of Alumacase here I see him selling out of cases and falling into a back order status very quickly.

Why in the world would he even offer a discount? The case is less then the competing product and if we can believe his tests, doesn't suffer from the same performance issues?

You people get so tied up in buying a price or a discount you overlook what you are purchasing in the first place.

Here's a new flash for everyone, not all things you buy need a discount.

As ufcfighter has stated, Fusionwerkz isn't charging anyone until the item is ready to ship. They have already communicated this to all of us pre-orders. This was totally different than Element, who charged me the day I placed a pre-order, yet I did not get the product until around 49 days later (it shipped on the 44th day).

I just looked at the Fusionwerkz Sabre case and it looks like a hybrid between the Alumacase and the Vapor. It's like the Vapor in that its screws are on the right side and the headphone port looks like it is really small (big negative) and can't fit non-OEM headphones. It is like the Alumacase in that it appears to enclose the iPhone symmetrically, not like Vapor's enlarged bumps on the right side. The Fusionwerkz Raw O/C is a totally different looking open antenna enclosure and with my personal taste, not something I'd be interested in.

It seems that all the case companies have a lot to offer. I'm liking Alumacase for their customer interaction. I dig fusionworks because it looks like a well made piece of kit. I like Elememt because they make sexy stuff, no doubt. Exovault magnetic case with hinge is a sweet design that offeres flexibility and you won't see it everywhere. Atomic had a good idea but jumped the gun and killed their rep with bad representation and an unfinished product.
Discount or no discount I'll buy it if I like it. The only way a discount would affect my buying decision is if I was buying in bulk to throw on EBay to sell.

If I ever become a cell phone case designer (highly unlikely), I will not make cases for iPhone users. Y'all are brutal!

I mean, were you seriously expecting a $20 discount? REALLY? 10% discount for special offers is pretty standard and $5 is close enough, Geez.

I don't know where you got $20 from but I'm pretty sure nobody in this thread said anything about that kind of a discount

Well then what exactly were you expecting? It's a discount. Be grateful, or don't buy it. I can't believe the whiners on this forum.

Rather than explain myself again, read what I posted just one page prior:

Well then you're tripping if you think a an anodized aluminum case could be sold at that price PLUS discount for them to have any profit at all.

It's a small business........they need to make a profit. Give them a break ffs.

If their case is what they say it is, $60 is cheap.

Funny how people complain about whiners. We are all whining except those not posting. :D

don't judge us who want a good deal. are you better than us if you pay full price? as my name describes, I'm frugal. I have no shame in it. I have the right not to buy it if I feel the item is not worth the price. and that doesn't make me a whiner. :)

I hardly think offering that type of discount to 20-30 people (hell it could even have been 10-15 people) would've put them out of business but at this point I really don't care to deal with people who feel the need to get up on a soap box and take a "holier than thou" attitude. Bottom line, my personal preference was to pay a certain price for a case that I was on the fence about and when that condition wasn't met, it made the decision to look elsewhere easier. I said this before and I'll say it again, I have nothing against Alumacase and I believe they will sell very well, it just won't be to me.

Fair enough. It's your money! Spend it where you will. I personally find the Vapor more appealing so probably won't even buy an Aluma (unless the precious metals is under $200), altho I do think the price is fair.

I agree about the Vapor and I'm right there with you when it comes to picking one of the two to purchase. I have no problem paying the money for the Vapor because it really stands out. And yes, $60 is cheap which will make numerous people happy, but my taste tells me that the design and price don't match up

I'm curious to see the reviews on it first. No matter what the discount I didn't plan on jumping on it anyways, I want to see that it's real anodized aluminum like he Vapor.

Been waiting over two months for the Vapor. At least I kno if I don't like it I can sell it on Ebay and not lose money. Big plus.

ETA. is Monday, Store will be open, and on Sunday night i will post the time that i will post the Mac Rumors coupon code for Monday. The code will be worth $5. Thanks

Couple quick questions. Is it an open back or is it covered with aluminum like a full case? Do the backs just slide in or something? Or stick into place. Thanks in advance.

Open back. Carbon fiber backing is a sticker.

open back as in, the glass will be in the open. The glass as in the back of the iPhone. The carbon fiber or Kevlar are both stickers that go on the back of the iPhone? I had no clue these things were pretty much bumpers.
