What, no full sized keyboard?

I hope the 17" MBP includes a full size keyboard. It should, its the biug daddy, it should have a full size keyboard.

Dont give me the whole "go out and buy a $20 external number pad" because a lot want it already built in.

Winers could may be have it as an option but I think it should be defalut.

if they added a numeric keypad it would make the entire keyboard offcenter. you would have to rest your hands left of center to type properly.

Well they need to cut down on the huge wasted space they have

and the only thing off center would be the touchpad.

Apple loves symmetry, they won't ever have a trackpad off center. It just looks wrong and ugly. The "wasted" space is actually a trade-off between a pair of good speakers, rather than some itty bitty speaker they stuff in some random places. I like the MBP's current design, but am open to new casing redesigns. I have no need for a number pad, and if people really needed it, just buy a keyboard or number pad.

and that's what I didn't want people to say:rolleyes:

Also just because you don't want it doesn't mean others do. Perhaps may be you should folow your own advice. I hate it when people tell us what we should and shouldn't buy just because they don't like somethig. It's all about personal taste here

i wonder what would people do if they get dead pixels with the new macbooks, i would go nuts if i get even 1

no, as i stated you would have to rest your hands left of center to type properly. it is not just the trackpad, look where the spacebar is. it would be irritating to say the least to have to type like that.

This pic isn't mine but I used to own a hp laptop like this one and it didn't brother me you don't even notice. Go to bestbuy and play around on the 17 inchers that have number pads and you'll see

I like the symmetry, and a full keyboard isn't TOO important to me. What if they had a number-pad piece slide out the side of the laptop? Haha, I don't know.

That sounds annoying. Symmetry is something that really bugs me if it's off.

It would be better if they placed the number pad next to the trackpad, which would be centered. Works just as fine and doesn't involve slanting your wrist to the left to work the touchpad.

That's fine that it didn't bother you, but I would notice and would irritate the hell out of me to have to type and use the trackpad on the left side of the laptop while rarely using the number pad. Besides that, there is a num lock key on my macbook pro that allows the right side of the keyboard to become a number pad. Laptops are not very ergonomic as it is, this would only make things worse.

True, and thats the poroblem with the laptops that have this sort of deal. None of the touch pads are centered. Guess its to match the keyboard, idk. But qwhat I do know is most of my passwords I use for sites and such have numbers in them, and I type a lot of numbers (not for math as I HATE math along with science) so I wouldnt mind having a numbr pad on the highest end notebook model,

but again its all about personal taste here. I'm just saying if your gonna spend about 2000 bucks on a laptop you should get what you pay for as well as the advance features found on other laptops for competition.

I just hope the basic MBP model will drop some what, to at least 1699 as you can prety much get the same specs on the basic MBP model on a Pc for less. I dont care it is apple, they can make a product and not charge so much for it. 1699 is not that bad for the starter MBP.

or in that "glass track" pad. It would be a multi touch trackpad with options besides moving the cursor around (like a virtual number pad suppose)

Like near the hinge at the back of the MacBook.

And didn't Apple get rid of the numeric keypad in the latest notebooks?

I dont think they ever had a number pad. if they did it might have been in the old putter powerbooks in the 90s...

speaking of hindge, I hope apple goes for a new style like the new sonys and acers. Round hindge

I meant the numeric keypad superimposed on the right side of the keyboard.

Yeah, it looks like they did. Although I never really use mine anyway so that won't be something I will miss when I upgrade in the next couple of months, which seems to be very good timing since that will be right around the time they are updated.
