Exactly what I'm hoping for.

thinking the same thing. also, throw in the macbook air tear drop shape and we have the iphone5.

4S makes sense for prepaid plans, which is more common in china and where apple will see most of their growth over the next 5-7 years.

There shouldn't be any debate anymore. There were rumors of two iPhones a long time ago by major news sources, and the reports of two iPhones by major news sources have persisted this whole time.

The iPhone 5 internals have been going around in iPhone 4 cases to companies who need them. The iPhone's design is the most immediate and coveted 'feature' before it is released. They are protecting the design with the utmost security because of this.

The iPhone 5 is all but confirmed to have:

4'' to 4.2'' screen
design that fits the 3rd party cases
A5
1 GB RAM
8 MP camera
Assistant

Small upgrades to the screen and an LED notification light can be expected.

That sure is some speculation to throw around with little actual backing. We will most defiantly not be seeing 1GB of RAM and you would know that if you read on the specifications of the A5 system on a chip.

An aluminium iPhone seems more and more likely. Dont forget the CaseMate cases leaks. It showed an aluminium back.

Just like the original iPhone. I can already see the tagline... "Back to basics".

Yeah... I wouldn't doubt that. All of Apple's product line up seems to be moving towards aluminum. The only exceptions currently are iPod touch, iPhone, and iPod nano (iPad 2 looks like it has an aluminum back... but I'm not sure if it is true since they don't mention it on their website).

In fact, I'd venture out and say the iPhone 4 seems to be a very unique exception to the whole Apple design philosophy: no aluminum! (even its antenna was stainless stell and not aluminum). As for the iPod touch... I'm not sure why that's not moved to aluminum yet, but probably soon.

Maybe the 4S...

Will be the low end phone for the simple reason that you need the A5 and extra RAM to run the new Assistant...that way people that are bound by a contract can still upgrade to the 4S and run the full version of IOS5 without shelling 700 for the IP5...just a thought

Why not? The A4 in the first iPad had 256MB of RAM but the one used in the iPhone 4 had 512MB. While it's not given that the new iPhone will have 1GB, I think there's a good chance it will. Do mind you that the RAM isn't part of the SoC even though it's physically packaged together.

4.2" seems a bit too far. I think a 3.7-4" is much more likely. My guess is around 3.8" so that they can keep using the Retina name.

Of course, Analysts know that aluminium is transparent to EMR, right, right?

Get mad, physics.
