I've had mine set at minimum with auto brightness turned off since S3 and that works great for me, even in bright sunlight.
Where is auto brightness. I’ve been looking but can’t find it.

Personally I’m more worried about OLED burn-in with Always On compared to the battery life drain.
50% after a full day with the S7 with AOD enabled sounds too good to be true. Do you have a GPS + Cullular model?Coming from a four, my battery would be in the red or near @ 30-40% end of day. So far I haven’t used it for a full day (so it’s still 50% and above) even with AOD used.
tmr is work and I’ll be putting in the usual commute + use and I’ll get a better sense then.
You cannot find it because there isnt one. I like my watch at maximum brightness. Having it dim in dark rooms with no way to adjust it, is really frustratingWhere is auto brightness. I’ve been looking but can’t find it.
Yep, it appears to be dimmer than my Series 4, wish they gave more control over that.My issue with the display brightness on the S7 is the auto brightness feature. when in a dark room, the brightness is way too dim and there is no way to change this setting. So, perhaps thats how they are extending battery life...![]()
You're right. I was mixing the earlier watch series with S6 and S7, which do have an ambient light sensor (auto brightness) but have no way to turn that off (unlike the iPhone). You cannot find it because there isnt one. The Series 4 doesn't have all the bells and whistles the Series 7 does. That is why.I’ve used 24% since it was at 100% about 5hrs ago.
I didn’t use that in a full day on S4
You save a lot of battery with AoD off. If you aren't looking at your watch during the day when your arm is by your side or otherwise engaged, I don't really see the point of keeping AoD on all the time, especially with winter coming and long sleeve shirts being worn by many people. And if you end up having a longer day than usual or away from the house, charging the battery at the same time every day isn't mission critical like it is for many people with AoD on and notifications going off left and right.I honestly think there’s a really big lottery, too, on the quality of the battery you get. My series 5 was never very good on battery. Some said it was no different than their 4. The battery health also dropped much faster on my 5.
Just like with phones, I think some start off with a higher capacity.
That said, when I turned off AOD, I ended my day with 50%. That’s almost back to where my series 3 would end.
It’s the darnest thing. Did 30 mins plus of exercise, 3.28 miles and 5k steps, Watch was 98%.
Now at 1:36pm, with minimal work, it’s 78%.
Yesterday I ended day around 52%.
All with AOD.

There are times I turn AoD on (like when I run etc.) and then when it is no longer needed, I turned it off again. That’s exactly my thought. Once I start wearing long sleeve shirts, there’s no point in wasting battery. Maybe I’ll turn it on at the gym, but it’ll go right back off. My shirt doesn’t need to know the time!
Same. I haven't worked out yet today. With about 9 hours of wearing my S7 I'm at 70% battery. I never turn off AoD or raise to wake. It’s the darnest thing. Did 30 mins plus of exercise, 3.28 miles and 5k steps, Watch was 98%.

Wait, you had less than 24% battery used over a full day (what’s that to you? 9-10 hours or more) on a Series 4? Is that GPS or Cellular model?I’ve used 24% since it was at 100% about 5hrs ago.

What’s your brightness set to, is it a GPS or Cellular model, what watch face?
It could be! 98% after doing a couple miles (with the watch tracking) seems unlikely.I wonder if some of that is just software algorithms that are lagging in showing the battery drop?
I’m at 72% now. I think it’s fine for my purposes throughout the day, m-f, which includes a few walks, and occasional texts/checks of email.Same. I haven't worked out yet today. With about 9 hours of wearing my S7 I'm at 70% battery. I never turn off AoD or raise to wake.
